OMF V8C148 He’ll Figure It Out

Yi Zan was startled when he was suddenly asked that question. Who this person was? He took another look but was still at a loss. He didn’t think that they had met before or that he had heard any of the others mention someone like this. How would he know who he was?

He turned back to his king and could only show him a lost expression. “I’m afraid I don’t know, Your Majesty.”

Qiu Ling nodded, feeling that while this was unexpected, it was still good. In any case, if even somebody close to him who had seen them interact wouldn’t immediately think of Jinde, that was a good thing. “Well, he happens to be my stepfather.”

The room suddenly fell quiet. Jinde was actually smiling faintly, feeling that this title wasn’t too bad. At the very least, it meant that Qiu Ling had probably accepted Leng Jin Yu as his father and him as his father’s partner. Why wouldn’t he be happy?

Leng Jin Yu had similar thoughts but he couldn’t help but still be a little tangled about it. Things were really going a little too well, weren’t they? Right now, he wasn’t sure if he could trust that things would continue to be like this.

On the other hand, the three people that knew Jinde’s identity were mortified. While they were clear on the inside story, that didn’t mean that this was something they could take being so casually brought up.

Meanwhile, Yi Zan was still just completely confused. “Your Majesty’s … stepfather?” To be honest, it wasn’t like there was much known about Qiu Ling’s family. There had always been talk that he was the son of Chun Yin who had been known as the greatest warrior of their race at that point in time but about his mother, there really hadn’t been much talk. She had been seen as just some unknown dragon. He definitely had never heard about any kind of stepfather. And that time had been so long ago. He wouldn’t have thought that such a person would still be alive. It was really quite puzzling to him.

Qiu Ling just nodded though. “Mn, that’s right. Now, it’s not really convenient to tell people that. But as it so happens, he is intending to settle down in our realm’s capital city with his husband. So we need some kind of new identity for him.”

Yi Zan faintly furrowed his brows. His Majesty’s stepfather’s … husband? They glanced at Leng Jin Yu but then just shook his head at himself. In any case, most likely, after all this time, this person had just married again. There was no need to think about anything else. “Well, if I can be of help …”

Qiu Ling gave an enigmatic smile in response. “It’s good that you’re offering. To be honest, we were thinking of making use of your brother-in-law’s looks for that.”

“Ah?” Yi Zan needed a moment but then figured it out as soon as he thought of Lei Jiang and Xiao Dong. Yes, those two were probably the only ones who had a certain chance of making it seem as if there was some familial relationship. “Well, then I should probably talk to them.”

Qiu Ling nodded. “That would be great. You can take a few days if you want to and need to prepare them but, well, it shouldn’t be too long. These to have some important business to take care of.” To be honest, he still felt a bit tangled about this matter of them having a child but he was also strangely looking forward to it.

It would’ve been great if he was able to take Jing Yi to the dragon realm along with the two of them so he could be around when things started. Now though, it didn’t look like that would be possible anytime soon.

It really was a pity. He had missed out on having a family back then. Now, there would actually be a small sibling around. Why wouldn’t he be happy about seeing that? It felt a bit like it was a chance for him as well and not just for these two.

Yi Zan nodded and got up. “In that case, I will not tarry. An Bai has taken over my post in His Highness’s palace. I will go back to the dragon realm and take care of everything before returning.”

Qiu Ling nodded, apparently without a care in the world. He clearly didn’t mind An Bai being there.

Yi Zan was puzzled but there wasn’t anything he could do.

Xiang Yong glanced at him and then got up as well. “I’ll see him out.” In any case, His Majesty would probably have some things to talk about with those two and maybe the God of War as well and it would be better to fill Yi Zan in on the details that His Majesty hadn’t mentioned. After all, while it was indeed true that the identity of His Majesty’s stepfather would better be kept under wraps, it definitely couldn’t compare to something like the identity of the previous Longjun.

Qiu Ling just nodded and watched the two of them leave before he leaned back and sighed. “Ah, your identity is a bit complicated. I really wasn’t sure how to tell him. Thankfully, there is Xiang Yong around. He’ll definitely do a good job at explaining.”

Jinde’s lips twitched and he couldn’t help but reach out and rap him on the forehead. “You! You just pushed it off to him like this. In any case, that Yi Zan is also your adviser. I’d say he deserves to hear the truth from you.”

Qiu Ling rubbed his forehead but still smiled. “I don’t understand what you’re saying. In the end, I did say the truth, didn’t I? I just happened to leave out a thing or two. But I’m sure he can figure it out with some time. Now though … what about your plans?” His expression suddenly turned serious, making the other people leave behind their joking manner as well.
