“What exactly do you want to do going forward?”
Jinde and Leng Jin Yu exchanged a glance, wondering how to say it best. While they had waited for Xiang Yong’s response, they had thought about it for a bit.
“Well, the idea would be to move back to the capital city first and get reacquainted with the place. In any case, since back then, a lot has changed. Whether it is the palace or the city, they aren’t the same anymore that we grew up in. After that, we still need to find the right shell. So I guess we’ll focus on that then.”
Qiu Ling nodded. From the sounds of it, these two didn’t have a more detailed plan yet. Well, that wasn’t strange at all. In any case, they didn’t know what to expect from the capital city. They would have to see how others reacted to them appearing there first. Only when they could be sure that this would be safe, then they could start working on having that child. “If you need anything, you can always come to me or contact one of my advisers. I will tell Qiang Wei and the other two about you as well.”
Jinde nodded. “I’ll try not to impose too much. In any case, as soon as we’re settled down, it shouldn’t be as much of a problem.”
Qiu Ling nodded and the two of them fell silent.
At the side, Qiang Yan was in a bit of a daze. He had only been told by Xiang Yong that Jinde and Leng Jin Yu would come back but not what exactly this was about. But now, from Jinde’s conversation with Qiu Ling, it was pretty clear that Jinde and Leng Jin Yu were intending to have a child.
This … Well, he had known that they were married so he probably shouldn’t be surprised but that was still something that he wouldn’t have expected. He needed a moment to get used to the thought.
Leng Jin Yu glanced at him and couldn’t help but smile. Most likely, the God of War had been pulled into this last-minute and was now shocked to hear what this was about. Actually, he felt a bit sorry for him.
Looking at him though, he couldn’t help but think of what he had originally discussed with Jinde before they left the Yun Zou Sect: He needed to get stronger. Thanks to regaining his memories from his past life, he felt like he had a better grasp on the strength of the immortal races and had also managed to take his own sword arts up a notch by combining the knowledge from this life and the last one. He definitely felt more proficient by now. Unfortunately, Chun Yin hadn’t been somebody who used his magical abilities much. While he did have some, he enjoyed using his sword or claws much more. So there hadn’t been much of a change in terms of that.
Still, he was dying to try out just how much better he had gotten. On the road, he had fought with Jinde every now and then to give it a try but that couldn’t quite compare. For one, he didn’t have a comparison of how his human self would have been able to go up against him. And second, he still had this image of Jinde as fragile.
It wasn’t just that he had seen him like this for most of this life because Jinde had still been healing but also that Chun Yin’s impression of Jinde had been pretty similar.
Thinking back, Jinde had been bullied quite a lot when he had been a child. So in Chun Yin’s mind, he had somehow seen him as a weak child that needed to be protected by him. And Jinde had definitely played that up quite a bit when they got older, making Chun Yin’s protective feelings skyrocket.
After falling in love, he had definitely seen Jinde has some kind of porcelain doll that he should better keep in the palm of his hand if he didn’t want him to be hurt badly. It was idiotic thinking about it now but he had clearly lost his mind when he fell in love. That was just how it worked for dragons. Or maybe Chun Yin had just been a special case.
Leng Jin Yu couldn’t help but glance at Qiu Ling. In fact, even though he had lived long as a dragon back then, he still only knew his own experience and had otherwise only been close enough to Qiu Ling in this life to have a feeling for what was normal and what wasn’t.
Back as Chun Yin, the others usually hadn’t entered his eyes and he definitely wouldn’t have paid much attention to how they treated their partners. There was also the fact that quite a lot of their brothers back then had been single men. So where would he have that kind of knowledge from?
Looking at Chun Yin’s and Qiu Ling’s behavior, he sure felt that dragons were crazy. As a human though … had he actually inherited some of that? In any case, fighting against Jinde was something that he had a hard time bringing himself to. So he still didn’t have a good grasp on how much had changed.
Now though … there was somebody he could ask. And he figured that he also might not say no.
Qiang Yan noticed Leng Jin Yu’s gaze and couldn’t help but faintly raised his brows. He felt that there was something different about him but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. “Is something the matter?”
Leng Jin Yu smiled wryly, feeling that maybe this was the experience from his past life but he was apparently getting a bit too direct in his approach with other people. “Well, I guess it wouldn’t be good for us to move around too much before we haven’t been able to settle in the dragon realm’s capital city. So I was wondering if maybe it would be best for us to stay here. It’s not like we have much to do so. Maybe the God of War would care for another fight in the meantime?”
Back then, he had had a mock battle with him and even though he had been staying in the courtyard of the idle gods before that for a bit, the ones he had fought there had been those youngsters that couldn’t quite compare with Qiang Yan. So his judgment of his opponent’s strength had been wrong, putting him at even more of a disadvantage. Now though, things were different. Or at least he believed that. So … he really wanted to give it a try.
