RMN C65 This Didn’t Make Sense

Mei Chao Bing and Yun Bei Fen finally left the house to go to the plain where the disciples would gather in the morning before setting out in their groups over the course of the day. Yun Bei Fen let Xiao Hui hobble after them while Mei Chao Bing had put Da Hei back into the chest.

His image already wasn’t very good so if he just strolled over with a midnight wolf, things might get troublesome. After all, this beast didn’t look like the type of stuffed animal that Yun Bei Fen had gotten. Furthermore, if the Elder or even Yang Wu Huang took a closer look, they would certainly notice that this beast had already managed to advance to the nascent soul stage. Then he’d have a lot to explain. Even more than he already had to explain now. After all, he was supposedly still in the core formation stage. How would he have been able to get a spiritual beast of a higher level without getting injured? That was almost impossible. Continue reading

RMN C64 You Said Nothing about That

Yun Bei Fen had no idea where he had gone wrong but the instincts from his early days in the sect kicked in when he saw Baili Chao’s livid face. He grabbed Mei Chao Bing’s arm and tried to drag him to the door.

Mei Chao Bing smiled and slowly got up, putting an arm around Yun Bei Fen’s waist and giving him a reassuring smile. “What are you running for? They won’t set out without us, will they? Besides, it’s not that late yet.”

Elder Baili was fuming even more when he heard that. That brat! He actually dared to question his words right in front of him?! Unfortunately, there was no way for him to refute his words. It was indeed too early for the disciples to set out and since the two of them had arrived in such a high-profile way, the others would certainly notice if they were missing and send somebody to look for them. They wouldn’t leave without Yun Bei Fen and Mei Chao Bing. Thus he could only keep quiet and watch the two of them leave the room. Continue reading

RMN C63 A Busy Person

Despite Elder Baili’s fierce attitude when talking, Mei Chao Bing was able to talk quite harmoniously with him when discussing his plan. The Elder listened quietly and nodded his head every now and then, finally agreeing to let matters proceed this way.

Mei Chao Bing couldn’t help but wonder if it could really be this easy. Didn’t the Elder have anything to add? He waited but nothing happened. Apparently, the Elder was indeed alright with this.

Mei Chao Bing heaved a sigh of relief. Even though he had expected more trouble in convincing the Elder, he was also happy that it hadn’t come to that. Right now, they had to act swiftly. Otherwise, if the rumors spread even further, then things would get troublesome. After all, as soon as everybody had heard the original rumor, them giving another account of the story would just seem like trying to cover things up. Continue reading

RMN C62 I’ll Keep an Eye on You

Mei Chao Bing got up early and took a look at his little bunny that was still sleeping soundly in his arms. Good. Whatever was going on outside, it didn’t disturb him at all. If they could, he’d like to stay inside for a while longer to make sure Yun Bei Fen wouldn’t have to find out about those rumors.

Unfortunately, they would have to head out for the mission today now that they had arrived in the border region. He could explain to people why they needed longer to get here but he wouldn’t be able to stall for any more time. So Yun Bei Fen would find out soon that something was off. He should start sorting out those rumors immediately. Continue reading

RMN C61 A Nasty Rumor

Mei Chao Bing stopped in his tracks and turned back. Elder Baili’s youngest disciple? Wasn’t that Yun Bei Fen? So were they talking about him? It should be. Don’t tell him Yang Wu Huang had actually made Yun Bei Fen part of these rumors too? He wouldn’t have expected that! He knew that guy wasn’t a good person but he had thought he would only try to get back at him for whatever grudge he was holding. Who would have thought he’d actually try and harm Yun Bei Fen?

Mei Chao Bing clenched his fists. If Yang Wu Huang had really dared to do that, then he’d need to deal with this after all. They could slander him all they wanted but he wouldn’t accept for Yun Bei Fen to bear the same treatment! His little bunny didn’t deserve that. He deserved to be treated with care. He shouldn’t have to see the ugly side of this world. Continue reading

RMN C60 Old and New Suspicions

Mei Chao Bing called Da Hei and Xiao Hui back and the four of them returned to their room. Soon enough it had turned dark and Yun Bei Fen started yawning. Mei Chao Bing brushed through his hair and motioned over to the bed. “If you’re tired, then how about going to sleep now? Since we’ll have to start with the mission tomorrow, we should make sure that we’re wide-awake, shouldn’t we?”

Yun Bei Fen nodded eagerly and latched onto his senior martial brother. “Let’s go then!”

Mei Chao Bing laughed and the two of them took off their outer robes, slipping into bed. Mei Chao Bing hugged this little bunny and gently stroked his shoulder, waiting until Yun Bei Fen’s breathing evened out. When Yun Bei Fen seemed to sleep soundly, he sat up and leaned over him, peering into his face to make sure he was asleep before he slipped out from under the blanket. He glanced at the two spiritual beasts that had curled up next to the bed and were now looking at him curiously. Mei Chao Bing looked back at Yun Bei Fen and smiled. He picked up Xiao Hui, patted its head and finally stuff it into Yun Bei Fen’s arms. Continue reading

RMN C59 I Should Have Done It Earlier

Mei Chao Bing didn’t even need to ask. Yun Bei Fen had already promised that he would tell the story so he would tell him the whole story. He just was that type of obedient child.

“I’ve only ever heard my father talking about it so I don’t really know how accurate it is but apparently, my mother was really fierce. At first, when he went up to confess to her that he liked her, she snapped at him and scolded him that he was a scoundrel and that she wanted nothing to do with him.

“Naturally, my father was devastated. He loved her so much. So he felt very bad after she did that. But since he loved her, he didn’t give up either. He said he tried to become a better person for her and then every once in a while, he’d go and tell her again that he loved her. Unfortunately, my mother still wasn’t satisfied for a long time. So … He was rejected again and again.” Continue reading

RMN C58 It’s What My Father Said

Yun Bei Fen grabbed Mei Chao Bing’s sleeve and evaded his gaze. “Alright, I’ll tell you. But you have to promise that you won’t laugh.”

Mei Chao Bing raised his brows. “Why should I laugh?” He really couldn’t imagine any reason that would have made Yun Bei Fen fall in love with him that would make him laugh. Wouldn’t he be laughing at himself if he did? After all, the person this was about was him.

Since his senior martial brother had promised, Yun Bei Fen didn’t mind too much anymore. He was sure that Mei Chao Bing would never break any promise that he had given him. He wasn’t that kind of a person. No, Mei Chao Bing was a man of his word! Continue reading

RMN C57 He Would Be Sad

Yun Bei Fen and Mei Chao Bing didn’t need long to circle the house once. Soon enough, they stood in front of their room again and Yun Bei Fen turned to look at Mei Chao Bing, waiting for him to decide if it was already time to go and see his Master.

Mei Chao Bing put his arm around Yun Bei Fen’s waist and leaned in, giving him a kiss on the forehead. “Let’s go see your Master then. I can only hope we’ll be together for the mission. If you’re not with me …”

Yun Bei Fen grabbed onto his senior martial brother’s robe, almost squishing the spiritual beast between them. “You don’t have to worry about that, Mei Chao Bing! Master already promised me that we would be in one group before we set off.” Continue reading

RMN C56 It Was Better If He Was Prepared

Mei Chao Bing finished planning how Yun Bei Fen’s sword should be forged and put away the scroll. There was no use pondering about this any longer. Thanks to the high-profile manner in which they had appeared today, they would be under constant surveillance from the other disciples for the next few days. Most likely, the other Elder that had come to the border region would also have to say a few things about how they had been delayed for so long. There was no way for him to just leave this town without having to answer a few questions.

When Mei Chao Bing thought of that, he couldn’t help but furrowed his brows. Actually, even if he waited a while, it was very likely that things wouldn’t be so easy. One of the people on the other side might be his Master. Everyone would be skeptical about him. Even if Elder Baili trusted him, the other Elder might not do so and might have some disciples observe his movements. And even if not … Continue reading
