OMF V8C146 A Trial Run

Yi Zan was even more weirded out when he saw An Bai’s noncommittal smile. Maybe An Bai was just trying to be polite but something about his expression was off. It really made him wonder just what might be going on.

Still, since this was their king, even if it was something crazy, he still would have to rush over. Thus, he immediately left his post next to Jing He’s bed, and hurried outside, rushing over to the palace that An Bai had described.

When he went inside, he found Qiu Ling and Xiang Yong sitting together. The strange feeling in his gut immediately became stronger. Something grave had to be happening otherwise, they likely wouldn’t be together like this.

He hurriedly bowed. “Greetings, Your Majesty. An Bai said that you wanted to see me?”

Qiu Ling nodded and motioned for him to sit down before he stood up himself and walked a few steps away, taking out a transmission stone.

Yi Zan didn’t understand what was going on but he still took the seat that had been indicated by Qiu Ling and sat down, shooting Xiang Yong a look to see if he could get any kind of hint from him. Unfortunately, Xiang Yong really was the person with the best poker face among the six of them. There was nothing at all that indicated the direction this would go in.

Meanwhile, Qiu Ling imbued his spiritual energy into the transmission stone and soon enough, the image of Jinde popped up. Before he could say anything, Qiu Ling already started talking though. “Old geezer, there’s a person you should meet. Where do you want to do so? Is the Nine Heavens alright?”

Jinde’s brows twitched. “Do you think I can —” Just walk into the capital city of the Nine Heavens?! He really wanted to say that but then he remembered that they had just asked Xiang Yong a while ago if he could make it possible for them to move into the dragon realm’s capital city. So really, where was the difference?

He took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled. “Alright, give me a moment. But meet us somewhere outside and sent one of your advisers to lead us there. I don’t have the time to look around for you.”

Qiu Ling nodded. “I’ll send you Xiang Yong.” Then, without really waiting for him to say anything else, he cut the connection and turned around to the table. “You heard it. Just go to the gates and get them. Oh, right, maybe get the God of War involved beforehand. It probably wouldn’t be good if they tried to verify his identity.” In any case, those guards at the gate still took their job rather seriously.

Even though Leng Jin Yu was an ascended deity, they wouldn’t just let him pass with somebody just because he said they were his husband. And he didn’t think that Jinde would walk into the city while exposing his face. No, for the time being, he would definitely take some measures to make sure he wasn’t recognized which was good in a sense but also made him seem really suspicious.

Xiang Yong nodded and got up, also inclining his head toward Yi Zan before he left.

Qiu Ling waited for the door to be closed before he sat down in his original chair, giving Yi Zan a long look. “What’s going to happen is probably going to come as a surprise to you. Just to warn you.”

Yi Zan really didn’t know what to make of the situation. From the looks of it … His Majesty somehow wanted him to meet a person? He had been sitting with his back to where Qiu Ling was doing the transmission so he hadn’t seen Jinde’s face and only heard his voice. He had no idea just who this person might be but considering the way the two of them had spoken to each other … although, then again, their king had never been one to be polite. The only thing slightly different was the fact that this person was also treating him rather strangely in return. So he really couldn’t glean much from this.

Back in the mortal realm, Jinde was complaining about Qiu Ling while Leng Jin Yu paid for the food before he came back to get him.

“In any case, it seems that things are already moving in the right direction. After this, it might not be long before we can go to the dragon realm’s capital city. Then, we’ll be able to have the child you’ve always wanted. Just think of that.” He leaned close and kissed his cheek, making Jinde immediately let go of his anger.

“I guess you’re not wrong about that. It’s probably worth it. Although I wish he was being a little more careful.”

“Well, this isn’t going to be any worse than living in the dragon realm. You can probably see it as some kind of trial run. We’ll see how it goes. If you can’t stomach it at all, then maybe going to the capital city to live also wouldn’t be such a good idea.”

Jinde sighed when Leng Jin Yu brought that up. “You can’t expect me to not be nervous the first time around. After I see that there aren’t any problems this time around, I will also calm down. It is just that right now … I need a bit more time to get used to this.”

Leng Jin Yu nodded and the two of them left the city they had been visiting, making their way over to the Nine Heavens.

Passing the border, Jinde’s lips twitched. “He didn’t even wait to tell me where exactly to meet that Xiang Yong. I sure hope he will have chosen some obvious place.”

Leng Jin Yu gave a hum and pondered what kind of place would have been a good one. Most likely … “Probably just one of the gates of the capital city? Maybe the main gate even. That would definitely be Qiu Ling’s style and it is something that we can’t miss.”

Jinde sighed again at that. “Well, that really would be his style. I guess we should go there then. If he’s not there, we can just contact Qiu Ling again.”

Leng Jin Yu nodded and the two of them made their way over, indeed sporting Xiang Yong who wasn’t standing too far away from the gate. To their surprise, he wasn’t alone though. Instead, the God of War was standing next to him, seeming a little nervous.
