OMF V8C137 Not Feeling Well?

Things were starting to turn fast in the immortal realms. On the other hand, down in the mortal realms, Xin Lan felt like it would be nice if they did go a little faster.

After meeting Wu Ya, they had been slowly traveling, making their way from the villages at the edge of the spirit beast’s territory to further into their place. He was pretty sure by now that Wu Ya was leading them to the capital city.

It probably wasn’t a bad choice. After all, Hua Lin Yu had never been here and the capital was definitely a place worth seeing. On the other hand, he really didn’t like to see what was going on in front of him.

Some way or another, Wu Ya seemed to have charmed his lover. Right now, the two of them were walking side-by-side, and Hua Lin Yu was listening to Wu Ya telling him stories about the spirit beast tribe and his own adventures with bright eyes. That kind of thing … which man would be able to take it?

Xin Lan narrowed his eyes, staring at Wu Ya’s back. Maybe he should just quietly break his leg at night while Hua Lin Yu was sleeping. That way, he wouldn’t be able to go any further. Then he could bring Hua Lin Yu to the capital city with the intention of getting some ‘help’. He wouldn’t mind coincidentally forgetting about it either.

Wu Ya turned to look over his shoulder and raised his brows. “What’s the matter? You don’t like that story?” Currently, he was going on about what the spirit beasts’ incumbent king had been up to in his youth. He felt that it really wasn’t anything bad to say. In any case, the little cultivator next to him seemed to like hearing it quite a bit.

Xin Lan forced himself to smile and shook his head. “No, please, carry on. I wonder how many more stories you have to tell.”

Wu Ya still felt that something seemed to be a bit wrong but he really wasn’t the type of guy that was able to see through any veiled insults or threats. He had always preferred being direct and usually got along with people that were like him the best. Thus, he just shrugged his shoulders and actually gave it a thought. “There should be quite a few. You know, this isn’t the only king I’ve served. I served at least three generations before him.”

Hua Lin Yu was quite interested in hearing that. “Really? You must feel honored then.”

Wu Ya nodded. “Who wouldn’t be? In any case, it is also a sign of my own strength that they let me do this. It’s really an acknowledgment of myself. You see, I do pride myself in being strong.”

Hua Lin Yu nodded. That was something he could understand. Many people were trying to become stronger. But there were only so many that could really achieve that dream. And he felt that Wu Ya was probably one of those who had made quite a bit of progress in that regard. After all, from what he understood, in the whole spirit beast tribe, he was still the undefeated champion. To just think about it … it really made him feel awed.

Xin Lan’s gaze darkened even further. “At the end of the day, aren’t you just stationed out there in the mountains? They might call your protector of the tribe but what does that really amount to? When they come together to make the big decisions, are you even anywhere close by?”

Wu Ya looked back and pondered for a moment. “Usually, I’m not. But I don’t mind. See, my strength is in brawns, not brains. I know that and it’s okay. I don’t need to be there to make any decisions. Other people are better at that than me. So why force my way into that?”

Xin Lan looked at him with disgust. “You really are too simple.”

Hua Lin Yu glanced at him and faintly noted that Xin Lan didn’t seem happy. He walked a little slower and then hugged his waist, looking up at him. “What’s the matter? Aren’t you feeling well?” At the very least, this was how Xin Lan looked even though he could hardly imagine it. He had never seen him do badly before.

Xin Lan’s lips twitched but he just hugged him back. “I just don’t want you to be taken in by the stuff he tells you. In any case, it’s not that awesome.”

Hua Lin Yu looked at him and slowly, it dawned on him. “You … are being jealous.” This was something that he actually had some trouble realizing. It just … it didn’t seem to fit Xin Lan. He had never seen him like this before. And this wasn’t somebody that he was interested in. If it had been Bai Mu …

He let go of that thought immediately and just hugged Xin Lan. “You don’t have any reason to worry. I think that what senior Wu Ya is doing is good for his people and I do admire that. But that doesn’t mean that I’m having any personal feelings or the like. You don’t have to worry about that.” He stood on tiptoes and gave Xin Lan a kiss before pulling back.

Wu Ya watched the two of them with some surprise, really not understanding how Xin Lan had arrived at this kind of conclusion. “You really don’t need to worry about that. Anyway, this kind of small boy wouldn’t be to my liking either. Who knows if he can even lift up a weapon?”

In his mind, the perfect relationship was one where he would be able to spar with your partner. He wanted somebody strong. Just as strong as him or maybe even stronger. Somebody like Chun Yin would’ve been good but he had always felt that there was a hint of ambiguity between him and Jinde so he had never even tried his luck. Other than him, there hadn’t really been many people who satisfied this one condition though.

Ah, finding a partner as a spirit beast really wasn’t easy. But no matter what, he’d just keep looking. Maybe he should actually take a break from being the protector of the tribe and venture out into the world. From what he knew, Zhen Yin had found somebody he liked there as well so maybe he would be able to do the same.
