Thinking about this, Baili Chao sighed. “I don’t need to tell you how dangerous the next few days will be.”

Mei Chao Bing nodded with a solemn expression. Of course, he was well aware that things wouldn’t be easy. In fact, this was what he had been thinking about since the moment he originally told the Elder and the others his doubts. He definitely couldn’t allow Yun Bei Fen to suffer because of him.

He glanced at his fiance, finally reaching out to rub his head. “Don’t worry. We’ll find a solution.”

Yun Bei Fen nodded with a trusting expression as if he didn’t think that anything could ever happen as long as Mei Chao Bing was around. Well, to be honest, that was exactly what was going through his head. In his opinion, even if something were to happen, Mei Chao Bing would definitely solve it.

Mei Chao Bing sighed when he saw his look but he didn’t say anything. It hadn’t just been a day or two now that Yun Bei Fen reacted like this. Even though they had talked about it, his opinion wouldn’t change that easily. He’d need to make more experiences to finally realize that there was nobody who was invincible.

Elder Baili’s brows twitched while looking at his disciple but he was even more familiar with how unreliable Yun Bei Fen’s judgment was than Mei Chao Bing. Naturally, he wouldn’t bother to try and explain now. Instead, he turned to Mei Chao Bing. “Until Ah Guan and the other two bring back a definitive answer, we won’t be able to plan much. Still, you should try and think about whether there is anything you can do if your guess is really right.”

Mei Chao Bing gave a hum and glanced at the little bunny in his arms again. To be honest, there was one foolproof way to prevent this whole plan from succeeding but he couldn’t bring himself to say it in front of him. He hesitated and then glanced at Elder Baili again. “I … will think it through and talk about it with the Elders later.”

Baili Chao faintly raised his brows. He knew Mei Chao Bing reasonably well by now so he was aware that there seemed to be something else hidden in his words. Seeing as he didn’t want to say it right now, he only nodded and turned to his disciple instead. “As for you …” His lips twitched again. There really was no way to say this nicely, right?

He sighed and then shook his head. “Well, I don’t need to tell you that you don’t have much experience. Use the remaining time to work on the skills the guardians and your senior martial brothers have taught you.” He didn’t think it would make that much of a difference but what else were they supposed to do? He couldn’t turn his youngest disciple into a bonafide cultivator with a wide arsenal of skills and rich experience in just a few days. Those kinds of things took years to develop.

Yun Bei Fen nodded without hesitation. He also knew that he didn’t know much so he could only try harder. Thinking of that, he looked up at Mei Chao Bing. Since he hadn’t needed to go to the headquarters of the demonic side, he would probably stay in the town for the next few days as well, right? In that case, they could train together!

Thinking of this, Yun Bei Fen was naturally happy. He hadn’t had many chances to spend time with Mei Chao Bing or at least he felt that this was the case. Not that there was an opportunity, he was naturally looking forward to it.

Mei Chao Bing rubbed his head, lost in thought. He had to talk to the Elders without Yun Bei Fen present but this little bunny clearly intended to cling to him for however long he could. He didn’t have the heart to just tell him to leave so he could only come up with an excuse.

Thinking for a moment, he finally smiled lightly as he turned to look at his fiance. “Well, how about going to start practicing now? You can go through all the skills you’ve learned in these past weeks first while I continue to talk with the Elders for a moment. When I’m done and come over, you can show me. What do you think?”

Yun Bei Fen would have liked it better if they spend the whole time together but he also knew that there had to be many more things that needed to be discussed so he didn’t insist. Anyway, if Mei Chao Bing asked him to practice, he naturally wouldn’t slack off! Thus, the little bunny got to his feet and nodded but didn’t forget to give Mei Chao Bing a hug before he ran out.

Baili Chao shook his head when the door fell shut and glanced at Elder Xing. “Did you see that? His fiance gets a hug but I don’t even get a last glance. It’s as if I didn’t raise him to this age.”

Elder Xing only smiled noncommittally. He definitely wouldn’t get involved in the trouble other Elders had with their disciples. That just sounded like a recipe for disaster. Since he had nothing to say about that, he turned to Mei Chao Bing instead. “Chao Bing, what did you want to discuss?”

Mei Chao Bing sighed and looked back to make sure the door was really closed before he turned to the two Elders. “Of course, we need to wait until senior martial brother Zhi and the others return to know for sure whether my guess was right. Still, I believe the chances for that to be the case are rather high so it can’t hurt to discuss some countermeasures early on.”

Elder Xing nodded and looked at Elder Baili. “I think the same. What about you?”

Baili Chao gave a hum. “It won’t be a wasted effort even if we didn’t get it completely right. So … what are your thoughts? It seems like you already have an idea.”

Mei Chao Bing nodded. “I can’t say I have general countermeasures but I’ve been thinking … if all else fails, there is one thing that can be done. After all, we know for sure by now that they need somebody with the constitution of the Lin family. Without that, they can’t go ahead. This means that without me, there won’t be any danger for a long time. So … if worse comes to worst, it’s enough to kill myself to stop this plan of theirs.”
