OMF V9C323 Make Ample Preparations

Fei Bai Mu thought for a while and finally got up with a sigh. “The Jian Yi Sect is going to have to find out about this in this way. I feel a bit sorry for my other disciples but it can’t be changed. Since I know where he is right now, I’ll follow him. Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch him and stick to him. Who knows what he is going to do otherwise?”

Hong Ai nodded, her brows furrowing together. “Will you be alright?” That youth hadn’t seemed dangerous but Shen An De and she talked a little more after the bomb that Xin Lan had dropped earlier and she was now a lot more aware of what it meant to be a fallen god. If Fei Bai Mu had to deal with that … there was danger involved, mortal danger.

Fei Bai Mu could only shrug her shoulders. “Well, you’ve seen that he still takes me as his Master so I might be alright. It’s simply a guess though. But then, this is the only thing I can do.” She paused when she said so and suddenly couldn’t help but feel that maybe there was another option. “Say …” She tilted her head, not sure if she should really bring it up.

Hong Ai raised her brows before giving a smile when she realized what was going on. “Ah Mu, don’t be like this. We’ve been friends for so long. What is there that you can’t ask of me?”

Fei Bai Mu sighed. “It’s not about asking something of you, it’s about putting you and your loved ones in danger. This Xiang Yu …” She shook her head. “It’s hard to say what he is going to do in the future. Right now, he seems focused on Xin Lan but when he realizes that Xin Lan won’t be interested in continuing the relationship they had when he was my disciple, he might take that badly. Not to mention that it could be a long time until then. What if he is set off by something in the mortal realm before then?”

“So what do you want to do?” Clearly, this did not just involve sticking to his side.

“Get some help. Some … more appropriate help. I can keep an eye on him but I’m not even strong enough to ascend right now. And even if I was, that would not be enough to prevent a disaster. No, what we need to do right now is to inform the right people.”

Hong Ai nodded. “Who?”

“Considering all the options we have, I don’t think there is anybody but the dragon king. Unless your husband has any contacts in the Nine Heavens?”

Hong Ai shook her head. “No, I’m afraid not.” Shen An De might have been able to contact people in the demon realm but she doubted that he would know anyone from the Nine Heavens.

“In that case, Qiu Ling is really our only option. Right now, he is in the Long kingdom’s capital city, preparing for that gathering. I will need some time to find Xiang Yu but after that, I could bring him over there.

“When you find out where the gathering will happen and go there, please tell the dragon king what happened so he’ll be prepared. He doesn’t need to do anything himself. I simply want him to know so he can pass the message along. Anyway, dealing with the fallen gods was originally the task of the god race. The dragons don’t need to get involved if they don’t want to.”

Hong Ai nodded. “I see. Well, I hope they send news soon then. An De and I can go over there earlier. The sooner he knows, the better.”

Fei Bai Mu nodded. “Indeed. Now, I’m afraid I can’t stay. Tell your husband as well. Maybe there is something he can do after all or maybe he has another idea. I have to hurry to catch up with him. Who knows what he is doing in the Hua family and whether he will still be there when I arrive after all?”

She shook her head and left, not daring to delay even a second longer. Just as she had said before, Xiang Yu could travel anywhere with hardly much more than a thought. On the other hand, she would need time to get to the Hua family’s place first and if he had left by then, she’d need to chase him who knows where.

Of course, she hoped that she would be able to meet him early on in his journey. If that was the case, she would also have an easier time persuading him to follow her to that gathering with the dragon king and whatever preparations he had made until then. Thinking of that, Fei Bai Mu flew toward the home of the Hua family at her fastest speed.

Hong Ai watched Fei Bai Mu leave with worry, sighing deeply. Yes, nobody could say what would happen in such a situation. In the worst case, there might be a lot of casualties not only among the people who were trying to stop him but even among those who had simply been at the wrong place at the wrong time. She could only hope that none of the people she knew and cherished would be among them. Considering that not only she and her husband but even her sister were headed to the gathering, she really couldn’t be sure of that though.

Hong Ai sighed again at the possibility and went to tell Shen An De as she had promised. Anyway, for the time being, there was nothing else to be done about this. And the more they prepared, the more successful they would be at limiting the effect of the battle that was sure to ensue.
