OMF V9C29 He Surely Had Questions

At the same time, Fei Bai Mu and Xin Lan arrived at a palace that was usually left empty but would be used by dignitaries from other sects or the cultivation families from time to time so it was in a pristine state and he could move in immediately.

At the door, the two of them turned to each other as if on cue and exchanged a look. For a moment, they both kept quiet and there was only the sound of the wind brushing by.

Fei Bai Mu would have liked to just bid her farewell and not get involved any further but she could see in Xin Lan’s eyes that he had questions. If she didn’t answer them now, who knew if it wouldn’t just make matters worse later? She still thought that it was best if he was at least somewhat prepared.

Xin Lan finally decided as well that he shouldn’t hold back with asking questions. Even if she refused to answer, it was still better to try than to just continue like this where he hardly knew what was going on. “Sect Master Fei, be honest with me: How serious is it?” This was what he needed to know first. Then, he could find a way to deal with it.

Fei Bai Mu sighed, not quite sure how to answer that question. “I’m afraid, I can’t really tell you. Not because I don’t want to but because I am not sure myself.

“Xiao Yu was … agitated when he came here. Mostly fearful I’d say about how you would react when the two of you met again. He didn’t really dare to get in touch with you because of that.

“At first, I would’ve said that him getting involved with that man might have been something he subconsciously did because he wanted to protect himself. In the sense that, he might have not wanted to confront the problems he had with you and looked for an easy way out which … another partner sure would have provided.

“But I have to say that the matter was a little odd as well. He saw him and …” She shook her head. “He mistook him for somebody at first. Apparently, some extended relative of that disciple. I felt like that connection might have had something to do with him taking an interest. It’s not something I’m able to make sense of though as Xiao Yu hasn’t really been forthcoming when I tried asking about it. In any case, the situation is a little odd to me.”

“An extended relative?” Xin Lan faintly furrowed his brows. “Did he mention any name?” He didn’t think that this would necessarily help him but maybe there was something that he could find out based on that. In any case, he wasn’t willing to give up without a fight.

Unfortunately, Fei Bai Mu didn’t do him the favor of answering that question. “Xin Lan, I realize what you’re trying to do. In this matter, you aren’t at fault, Xiao Yu is. I also know that so you have my full support in confronting him about his behavior. You can be sure about that. But I won’t be giving you any information further than what you need to know.

“In any case, you should have a talk with him and figure things out yourself. Trying to worm some information out of me won’t change anything about the situation. What you need to do is not scheme against Xiao Li but figure out what the problem with Xiao Yu is. So please make sure you focus on the right thing.”

Xin Lan gave a hum, a little unconvinced about that. But in any case, he could hardly force her to tell him more. “Well, in that case, I’ll have to live with that response. Let’s hope that I will really be able to make this work.”

Fei Bai Mu nodded and then motioned at the palace. “You’re welcome to stay as long as you want. Xiao Yu might need some time to come around. This whole matter shouldn’t be easy for him either. I think he at least realizes that he has hurt you and despite Xiao Li’s involvement, you clearly mean a lot to him.” Saying so, she looked back up at Xin Lan, actually wondering if she should even be saying something like this.

Was it tough on her disciple? Well, he had been scared at first, but then he had made one mistake after the other. On the other hand, Xin Lan’s reaction to the original incident of Xiao Yu wanting to remove his mask hadn’t been too strange and he had even apologized for it.

She really couldn’t fault him and if there was somebody who had it rough right now, it was clearly him. But he wasn’t her disciple and he was probably able to deal with this much better than Hua Lin Yu was. Thus, she really didn’t feel that it would be appropriate to say anything about him.

“Well, then I’ll leave you alone. If you need help, you know where to find me.”

Xin Lan nodded as well and then watched her leave before he turned to look over the Jian Yi Sect.

He didn’t know how things had ended up this way. For his fiance to suddenly be interested in somebody else, it seemed like something that shouldn’t happen. But in any case, his relationship with Hua Lin Yu had been an up and down from the very beginning.

Even though things might currently not be looking that good, he was sure that soon enough, that would change. By that time, it would seem silly that they had had this problem.

Whoever that guy was, he probably didn’t need to be worried. After all, things had been going well before. They just needed to find back to that feeling. And he was sure that a talk and maybe paying some special attention to Hua Lin Yu would already take care of that.

Thinking of that, he went into the palace, trying to think of something nice that he could do to open up communication between them again. Because surely, the most difficult part of this whole matter would be to get an opportunity to talk first. If he managed to do that, then them being a couple again wouldn’t be far off.
