OMF V8C144 Another Problem to Solve

An Bai nodded. “Yes, that was what we thought of. In any case, it has been thousands of years since he last appeared. And back then, many people died in the war. So it is unlikely that there are many around that knew him or at least were close enough to him to get a good look at him.

“As long as he has a different identity, that should be enough to keep him safe. And while he might make a bit of a stir, that can still be contained as long as it is in the capital city. In any case, if somebody who has at least one shared feature like Xiao Dong is close by, it won’t be as strange.”

Qiu Ling nodded. “If Xiao Dong and his father came out to meet him and brought him around for a bit while introducing him as family, it shouldn’t be a problem. As for the reason they came to the capital city …”

“If I’m not wrong, then his husband is an ascended deity that works together with the God of War. I think that it would be best if they could stay as true as possible to their original story: He went on a mission, they met in the mortal realm, they fell in love. Now, they want to return to the dragon realm since they are intending to have a child and they figured it would be good to move closer to some family members for that. Also, for a child, the capital city will definitely hold a lot of opportunities. And considering that this child will be half-human, half-dragon, it is easier for them to live in a place that is as open-minded as the capital. So they are just considering the good of their future child.”

Qiu Ling nodded. “That is as close to the truth as it can get. In other words, as long as they leave out his actual identity and make up a couple of things, it shouldn’t be a problem.” He fell silent for a moment and thought about it a bit longer, slowly nodding his head. “I don’t think it should be a problem. He is good at wrapping people around his little finger. If he says something, who would think it is a lie?”

An Bai nodded but then his expression turned a little thoughtful. “There’s just one matter …”

Qiu Ling raised a brow, wondering just what it was this time. The whole matter had seemed to be solved quite easily but now, there was a problem coming up. He couldn’t help but be curious about that. “Just get it out with. I never expected this to be easy.”

An Bai sighed and there was a bit of self-reproach on his face. “This is my fault I’m afraid. Does Your Majesty remember the time I spent in the demon realm?”

Qiu Ling gave a hum, his expression a little unnatural. Back then, he hadn’t really made plans to get An Bai out anytime soon because he was busy with Jing Yi and hadn’t really cared about much else. It really was something that he had no excuse for. Being reminded of it … he had a guilty conscience.

An Bai didn’t try to reassure him. In any case, back then, he had stepped up of his own free will to save His Highness’s reincarnation. So he wouldn’t begrudge his king. Although … being remembered a little earlier would’ve been nice. But that just made him happier that his king had turned more dependable by now.

In any case, that wasn’t what this was about. “The problem is that the demon who tried to get close to me back then has been coming to the dragon realm’s capital city quite regularly. And from what I know, he is actually quite old. He was also trying to find out about that dimension in the Yun Zou Sect. So I’m afraid he is precisely after that person.”

Qiu Ling’s eyes narrowed. “That is definitely somebody that Jin Ling sent after them. He was probably trying to get close to you to find out how to get inside. Now though, that is indeed a bit of a problem. If he looks for you there, he might stumble across him.”

An Bai faintly inclined his head. “That is what I’m worried about, yes. And so far, I haven’t been able to think of a solution. Since they aren’t there any longer, it could be an option to let him into the dimension to see that there is no one there and solve the matter like that but that only means that he would continue searching elsewhere. Right now, the dimension is a very good smokescreen. Because as long as they believe that he is in there, they won’t bother looking anywhere else. At the very least, they won’t do so with great force.”

Qiu Ling gave a hum. “Yes, it would be best to keep that up. But on the other hand, we can’t allow him to look for you either.” He pondered for a moment and then raised his brows, giving An Bai a smile. “Actually, he doesn’t know that you are in the Nine Heavens right now, does he?”

An Bai was startled but still honestly nodded his head. “I don’t think so, no. He’s probably realized that I’m currently not in the capital city but he wouldn’t know where I have gone. And I don’t think it would be smart to let him know. After all, Your Majesty and His Highness’s reincarnation are both here.”

Qiu Ling smiled. “Precisely. You really think that the gods would just let a demon venture into the capital city while the crown prince is completely helpless? I don’t think so.”

An Bai’s expression completely derailed. His Majesty … wanted to use His Highness as bait so that the gods would keep the demon out? This didn’t sound like him at all.

Qiu Ling waved when he saw An Bai’s expression. “You’re thinking too much. In any case, Xiang Yong is getting those half-bloods to keep Jing Yi safe. As for me, since I can’t stay around there, I will spend my time at Jing He’s place instead.

“You just need to have Fu Min and Fu Heng let it slip that you are currently in the Nine Heavens’ capital city. He can try to get in but he won’t be able to get close to either you or Jing Yi and Jing He. I’ll make sure of that.” In any case, no matter who that demon was, he didn’t doubt that he would be able to keep his beloved safe from him. The title of the strongest warrior of the dragon race … it was still worth something.
