OMF V9C304 Not His Goal

Xiao Li gave Hua Lin Yu a complicated gaze. “Even if you don’t believe me, I do loathe to lose you like this. Maybe in the future, we can mend bridges. But if you don’t want to see me for the time being, then I won’t force you.

“As for what you’re asking of me, I’m afraid I can’t comply. I’ve already told you before: I don’t know who the person in your vision was. So there’s nothing that I can tell you. You have to believe me on that.”

Hua Lin Yu shook his head. “It would be a lot easier to believe you if you hadn’t been lying to me before. You even admitted to it just now. So how can I be sure that you are currently saying the truth?”

Xiao Li could only raise his hands. “I’m afraid I can’t make you believe me. But I really don’t have anything else to say. I don’t know anything about that vision of yours. So, since you don’t want to see me any longer, then I will just leave.” Saying so, he turned around and tried to walk away.

An Rong glanced at him, his eyes lowering. Just like Hua Lin Yu had said, it was difficult to believe somebody who was constantly lying about things. And as for this one, he just seemed shady enough to try and hide something important from that little youth.

Not wanting him to get away just like that, An Rong used his demonic energy to appear in front of Xiao Li in the blink of an eye. “I don’t think so.”

Xiao Li looked at him, seeming uncomfortable. “Sect Master An, this matter was originally between Xiao Yu and me and doesn’t concern you. Please do not get involved.”

“Now, that’s a pity because I want to get involved. Also, didn’t you say that you came here to talk to me? I still haven’t gotten that part. Why don’t you enlighten me?”

Xiao Li gave a wry smile and took a step back. “You don’t seem to be willing to believe me either. So no matter what I say right now, the two of you will simply doubt it, won’t you? In that case, I might as well say nothing. Then you can take that as whatever you want it to be.” With that, his own body turned into mist as well, and he reappeared a few steps away.

An Rong scoffed and rushed after him, appearing in front of the spot Xiao Li had run to. “You’re a mere half-demon and a young one at that. Do you really think that you can outrun me? As for not believing what you say, you don’t have to worry about that. Since you’ve heard about me from Grandmaster Shen, you should also know that I’ve become quite the talented alchemist. I can ensure that you will tell us the whole truth. Since you don’t seem to mind telling us whatever you know, surely, you wouldn’t have a problem with that, would you?”

Xiao Li took another step back and shook his head. “I certainly would not have a problem with that if this was the Jian Yi Sect and it was simply Xiao Yu who asked me and one of the Elders there. But you’re a demon. How could I trust you?”

An Rong raised his brows and motioned at Xiao Li. “The same to you. Why would anybody trust you as a half-demon? Since you’re willing to ask this of your so-called lover, I think that it is only right if I ask you to trust me as well. Anyway, I’ve always been a very trustworthy demon. But it doesn’t matter anyway. After all, it’s not like you have a choice.” With that, he immediately reached out to grab Xiao Li.

The half-demon narrowed his eyes and dashed away, using his dark energy, but An Rong naturally expected that. The two of them chased each other. Hua Lin Yu could only stand there blankly, waiting for the outcome of this fight.

He didn’t doubt that An Rong would be able to do it. Anyway, just as he had said: He was a full-blooded demon and also much older than Xiao Li. Of course, he would be able to subdue him sooner or later.

His thinking wasn’t wrong and Xiao Li also knew that he couldn’t escape like this. But then, that wasn’t his goal anyway. After a while, he stopped, staring at An Rong with a dark look in his eyes. “It seems that Sect Master An is really intent on not letting me leave. Since this is the case, it seems that I can’t change it and can only accept my fate. You’re really displaying the true nature of the demons here.”

An Rong simply gave a faint smile, not thinking too much of it. If somebody wanted to accuse him of being a vile demon, then he would like it to be somebody who was a bit more trustworthy than this Xiao Li in front of him. Coming from him, he didn’t take it seriously. “It’s good that you finally understand how things are going to go. Then, if I might invite you to my palace?” He motioned to where they had come from.

Xiao Li gave a huff, turned around, and took a few steps, waiting for the two people behind him to follow while he secretly took out a weapon. Glancing to the side, he whirled around and threw the dagger.

An Rong raised his brows in ridicule when a thud sounded behind him. His expression changed and he whirled around himself, only to find Hua Lin Yu collapsed to his knees behind him. He stared at him in a daze, reminded of the day when Duan Gui Ying had lost his life right next to him.

Behind them, Xiao Li used the opportunity to rush away. Alchemist or not, there was a limit to what somebody could do when the heart was injured. He really didn’t think that An Rong would be able to save Hua Lin Yu. And with Xiao Yu dead, Xin Lan as his lover would soon follow. And he, in turn, would be free to roam the world again without needing to worry about the dragon’s revenge.
