OMF V11C316 Too Much To Prepare?

Bai Fen gave a hum and then got to her feet. “Well, I’ve made sure that you know. You’re probably indeed tired so I won’t stay around. Since Qiu Ling is with you, I can rest assured.”

Jing He blushed but then, this was his fiance and his mother had even started to secretly arrange his wedding to him. Why wouldn’t she say such a thing? He hurriedly bid goodbye to her and then turned to Qiu Ling after the door closed behind her.

Qiu Ling looked at him, still holding his hand. “I hope you don’t mind that we prepared all that.”

Jing He naturally shook his head. “It is good, isn’t it? This way … we won’t have to wait so long.”

The wedding ceremony of the trueborn gods was a lot more complicated than that of the dragons. Even just their personal matters would take a lot of time to prepare. There were the wedding robe and jewelry that needed to be ready and couldn’t be allowed to fit less than perfectly. The ingredients for the ritual bath weren’t that uncommon but you still had to check that all of them were available in a high enough quantity. The offerings to their ancestors and to Tian naturally couldn’t be neglected and had to be chosen carefully so as not to offend.

Then, they needed to choose the people for each part of the ceremony. Who would be the one doing his hair? Who would lead the sacrifice? Who would preside over the actual ceremony? His father couldn’t be a part of any of that with the attitude he had but he didn’t have many other relatives and not choosing a relative would seem wrong if one of the people who should theoretically be available to do the task was the Heavenly Emperor. In fact, even asking his uncle instead of his father might cause people to wonder what was going on and whether his family had actually blessed this union.

The longer he thought about the details, the more worried Jing He became. Not to mention that even after all of that was done, the logistics of everything else weren’t any less. With their identities, many people had to be invited and the banquet that would be held afterward wouldn’t be small in scale. Surely, not all of this could be ready yet? But his mother had said that his father was already starting to invite people so it could only be a few days or at most a week from now. How could they prepare all of this in such a short amount of time?

For once when it came to his wedding, Jing He wasn’t worried about his father’s attitude and behavior but more so about the organization. He hadn’t been around when the plans had been made and he knew none of the details. Thinking of what could have been prepared beforehand and what would need to be prepared now, he just couldn’t see how it would be possible to do all of it in time.

Qiu Ling saw how Jing He’s expression turned tangled even though his words had been positive. Seeing this, he felt a bit worried. “My love, speak to me. What’s troubling you?”

Jing He looked at him with worry. “There … there is so much to prepare. Will we really finish everything in time?”

Qiu Ling blinked his eyes in a daze. He had expected a lot but certainly not this. Was his beloved just worried about logistics? To be honest … that was a little cute. No matter what though, if Jing He was anxious about something, then as a qualified fiance, he should help him to calm down.

He let go of Jing He’s hands and instead picked him up, pulling him onto his lap and holding him in his arms. “You don’t need to worry. Most of it has been prepared. Let me show you slowly.” Saying so, he first took out a set of wedding robes following the customs of the Nine Heavens. “Your mother explained how they were supposed to look. I had a lot of the necessary materials at hand and the rest, I had Xiang Yong bring from the dragon realm when he came to report. One of the seamstresses in the capital here in the Nine Heavens made them but your uncle and cousin went to organize everything so your father wouldn’t get suspicious.”

Jing He nodded, a little less worried. Making this kind of robe would take a long time just due to the embroidery alone. He carefully unfolded the pieces one by one, carefully checking them. He probably shouldn’t worry at all. Since his mother and uncle had been involved, they’d know what to take note of. But this robe was so important. He didn’t want anything to go wrong.

Qiu Ling didn’t say anything and simply let him check. As long as it could help, why not? After Jing He saw that everything was alright, he could take the time to rest and then get ready for their wedding. So he needed to give him this time.

When Jing He finished looking at each of the robes, he neatly folded it again and nodded. “It seems everything is alright.”

“Mn.” Qiu Ling put his own set away and motioned for Jing He to keep the other one. Then, he took out a carved wooden box. “This is the accompanying set of jewelry. For this, I let Xiang Yong find someone in the dragon realm.” Crafting jewelry had a long tradition in the dragon realm. Even though it wasn’t as popular anymore as it had once been, overall, the quality was still better than in the Nine Heavens so he insisted on having his people make it.

Jing He opened the box and looked over each of the pieces one by one. Taking out a jade bracelet, he couldn’t help but look at Qiu Ling questioningly. “This shouldn’t be part of the wedding jewelry.”

Qiu Ling looked at it and gave a faint hum. “This one … it’s a gift from Jinde. I … would like you to meet him ahead of time if you don’t mind.”
