OMF V11C105 Time to Leave

While Qiang Yan went to organize the rooms, Bai Mu returned to Nie Huang’s side. He looked at her quietly for a moment, his thoughts still on the conversation with his father just now. He really wanted this and he didn’t think that Nie Huang would have anything against it either. Anyway, she and Qiang Yan seemed to have gotten on well when they had met for a short time before. Living with him shouldn’t be an issue. As for the rest …

Bai Mu narrowed his eyes. He didn’t know too much about his father’s family. From the little that he had heard from either Qiang Yan himself or from Qiu Ling, it seemed like Qiang Yan’s sister was a nice person. She probably wouldn’t make trouble. His brother-in-law though … that was the Heavenly Emperor so they’d have to be careful around him. It also seemed like he wasn’t easy to approach in general which really didn’t make this any easier. Who knew what to expect after they arrived?

Nie Huang sensed that her fiance had come back but that the calm attitude she was used to from him had vanished. She finished her cultivation and slowly opened her eyes, turning to look at Bai Mu. “What happened?” She had felt that he left her side but he had still seemed tranquil at the time as if it was nothing out of the ordinary and he’d be back in a moment.

Bai Mu smiled wryly when he realized that he had disturbed her. He sighed and reached out, gently rubbing her shoulder. “I’m sorry. You were busy.”

Nie Huang shook her head. “It doesn’t matter.” Anyway, she had already gained time by cultivating hard these months. What was a small interruption now? “Well, since I’ve already stopped, you might as well tell me. You suddenly left earlier. Did something urgent happen?”

Bai Mu still kept quiet for a moment but finally nodded. “I suppose you could say so. Jing He — that is, my father’s nephew — he apparently went missing. He didn’t tell me the details yet but considering my cousin’s identity, it should be a big thing. Qiu Ling is going to move over there and my father asked if we’d like to join in.”

Nie Huang watched her fiance’s expression and naturally noticed how his brows furrowed faintly while his eyes widened a little. Clearly, he was worried but still hoped that she’d say yes. She smiled and nodded without a moment of hesitation. “I don’t see why not. Qiu Ling should be devastated. He has helped us so it is only right for us to be there for him now.

“Even without that, this is your family. You might not know them well yet but isn’t that just one more reason to go? Every tragedy has the potential to bring people closer together. While it would have been nice to get to know everyone under nicer circumstances, you shouldn’t hold yourself back just because it isn’t the ideal time. Not to mention … your father wouldn’t have asked if he didn’t want you to go over, would he?”

Bai Mu nodded. “No, he definitely wouldn’t have.”

Nie Huang reached over and patted his chest. “So you see, it’s just right for us to go. We might not know much about the Nine Heavens or the dragon realm but we are still people. Maybe just being there will be a comfort to your father and his family. If not … well, there should be something we can do. Let’s just see it as an opportunity to bring everyone closer together. And when your cousin is found, we can also get to know him better.”

Bai Mu nodded again. “You are right. I have to mention that father warned me about his brother-in-law though. He’s supposed to be difficult so … we might suffer a bit.”

Nie Huang sighed. “His child just went missing. It’s no wonder to be a bit off. We shouldn’t take anything he says or does to heart right now. I can definitely live with that.”

“Alright. Since you don’t mind, then I won’t either. Let’s go then?”

In response, Nie Huang took his hand and directly got to her feet.

Bai Mu smiled, following her up. Nie Huang seemed so much more decisive than him. Even though he had also wanted to agree, he had still worried so much while she simply figured that they could deal with whatever came when it was time. In this regard, she was much better than him.

The two of them didn’t have any possessions that weren’t carried on their person so there was no need to pack. They stepped out of the room, ready to leave directly.

Bai Mu stopped in his tracks though and finally pointed down the corridor. “We should probably tell somebody here that we are leaving.”

Nie Huang hummed and the two of them finally went to knock on Xiang Yong’s door. Anyway, grabbing any of Qiu Ling’s advisers was the same. They’d talk to each other sooner or later anyway.

When Xiang Yong heard that the two of them were heading over to the Nine Heavens as well, he actually felt a bit relieved. “It’s a good idea to join everyone. Things are tense currently and standing together might help soften the blow. If the two of you need anything, don’t hesitate to mention it to His Majesty or any of the people going over to help with the safety of the Nine Heaven’s capital city. You are considered people of our realm since you decided to come here and you are considered members of the family of our king’s future husband so the dragons will always be on your side.”

Bai Mu inclined his head. “Thank you. I don’t think there will be anything. We simply wanted to let you know.”

Xiang Yong gave a hum. “I appreciate that. Do you want to leave together with the guards or go over yourself? I remember you don’t seem to have been to the Nine Heavens before?”

At this, Bai Mu’s expression turned a bit embarrassed. To be honest … he indeed hadn’t and no, he wasn’t entirely sure where the capital of the Nine Heavens was located. “I suppose … going with the guards might be better.”
