OMF V9C140 Tell Me If I Can Help

When Qiu Ling made up his mind to do something, he wasn’t somebody to hesitate. He turned to Qiang Yan and Bai Mu, giving them a faint smile. “You’re finally at the same place so I guess you want to spend some time with each other. We’ll leave you alone and take a look at what the others are doing next door instead.”

Qiang Yan and Bai Mu nodded and also got up.

“In that case, I guess we’ll accompany you outside. I still need to go and greet Nie Huang after all.”

Qiu Ling gave a hum and the four of them walked to the door, each going their separate ways once in the corridor.

Jing Yi didn’t ask any questions about what Qiu Ling wanted to do and just followed after him. This whole matter had gotten to him quite a bit. Originally, he had only wanted to have Qiu Ling to himself. He never would’ve thought that things could spiral this much out of control to the point where it wasn’t even clear whether anybody would get Qiu Ling in the end. That had really driven home the point of how much he had gone wrong. And the fact that he even needed this reminder was bone-chilling. It made him wonder just what had become out of him.

He had tried to kill somebody. It didn’t matter that this person didn’t exist for as long as he was alive and that he was his reincarnation. At the end of the day, Jing He was still a person. He was still somebody with a life.

It was a bit as if he had gone up to somebody who was currently asleep and had tried to murder them. No amount of excuses would ever be able to explain that away. This was something that he would have to deal with now. Thankfully, he hadn’t managed to actually do it. If he had, he really wasn’t sure if he would still be able to live with himself.

Qiu Ling knocked on the door and then stepped inside, finding only Xin Lan sitting at the table. He raised his brows and then looked around, noticing the door to the small study being halfway closed. “Did they go and hole up in there? That’s an odd place to get cozy.”

Xin Lan glanced at him but didn’t say anything and just watched as Qiu Ling and Jing Yi went over.

When Qiu Ling arrived at the door and saw Zheng Yin in there together with Jinde and Leng Jin Yu, he couldn’t help but raise his brows. “Well, I remember you mentioning that you discussed this with somebody else. It seems like you are all working on this together here.”

Zheng Yin looked up at the voice and then immediately shot to his feet, inclining his head. “Your Majesty.” Even though as a spiritual beast, he was loyal to the spirit beast king first, the dragon king still came right after that. In fact, he might even come first if there was a situation where they would both be at the same place. But that was something he didn’t want to think about.

Qiu Ling waved his hand, not caring too much about this kind of formality. “Don’t bother. You’re busy. Just take care of matters. These days, the more we get done around here, the better.”

Speaking of that, his gaze turned to Leng Jin Yu and Jinde again, and he especially took a closer look at his stepfather’s face. Just like Leng Jin Yu, he also had his doubts about just how well Jinde had been able to take that matter just now.

Jinde only rolled his eyes at you of them. “Like father, like son. You two really need to stop fussing about me. How old do you think I am? Anyway, I’ve always been best with my magic. This small thing isn’t worth your worry. You should be more worried about tomorrow.”

Qiu Ling grabbed a chair and went over, pulling Jing Yi onto his lap again. “Do I want to know what is going to go down tomorrow? Because so far, I haven’t been told any details. If it is anything dangerous and I can help, better tell me now.”

Jinde hesitated, not quite sure how much to tell Qiu Ling. It wasn’t that he wanted to keep secrets from him but this was Xin Lan’s private matter. It just seemed wrong to go and talk about it without his express permission.

Xin Lan had been able to hear every word of the conversation so he finally also came over and leaned in the doorframe. “He is … your lover’s child, so I guess I can’t complain about it if you want to tell him.”

Qiu Ling turned around and raised his brows at him, surprised that Xin Lan would actually be willing to admit this much. Usually, he really wasn’t that amicable.

Xin Lan smiled faintly. He could see exactly what Qiu Ling was thinking from his expression. To be honest, he had surprised himself just now. But then, what was the use in bickering with Leng Jin Yu or Qiu Ling?

He wasn’t trying to go after Jinde anymore. Anyway, that had been a lost cause from the very moment they met. No, right now, he was doing this for the person he currently loved. Why should he stay hung up over things that belonged in the past? As such, it really seemed like wasted energy to make things difficult for him.

Thinking of that, he actually gave Qiu Ling a bare-bones explanation of just what they intended to do.

To say that Qiu Ling was shocked wouldn’t be an understatement but no matter what, he could also understand. He himself was focused on his looks. And if he imagined being less than perfect in front of Jing He, that was a thought he couldn’t bear. So really, Xin Lan wanting to heal however his face looked like was something that he could get behind. In fact, he really hoped for him that it would work.
