OMF V11C386 The Celebrations of the Dragon Realm

With both couples slowing down, Bai Fen and Qiang Yan who had left right after them but were slower than the dragons soon caught right up. Seeing them casually seated there, floating toward the capital city, they also slowed down until they were following right beside Jinde and Leng Jin Yu.

As trueborn gods, the significance of what had happened earlier wasn’t as obvious to them but when the rest of the people from the dragon realm lagged behind, it became clear that something was going on. Even if there was nobody to explain to them, they could also make a rough guess based on what they knew about Qiu Ling. Seeing as it was his wedding day though, neither of them brought it up when they caught up. Instead, they focused on the topic of the day.

“I have never been to a celebration in the dragon realm.” Bai Fen hadn’t traveled much after the two of them relocated to the capital city of the Nine Heavens and she had never actually set foot in the dragon realm. The few trips she took had all been to the major cities in the other eight Heavens, making her quite curious about what the dragon realm might be like.

Qiang Yan had been there and even saw some of the festivities but usually, he only went to deliver a gift and then returned home. The relationship between their races hadn’t been that close, after all, despite the long-standing alliance. As a result, he wouldn’t dare to say that he had much of an impression of how the celebrations usually went either. It had always seemed lively though.

Jinde could only chuckle. “If you want to know more, I’m afraid you’re asking the wrong people. I’ve barely been back for a full year and most of that time I’ve spent inside to make sure nothing happens to my child and my identity doesn’t get exposed ahead of time. Who knows what has changed in the past ten millennia?”

Leng Jin Yu could only nod. He hadn’t been back to the dragon realm before Jinde’s return either and even in his past life as Chun Yin, the last decades had been spent in the countryside, away from others. Where would he have seen any of the grand celebrations? He knew as little as a regular ascended deity now.

Qiang Yan could only sigh. It seemed that oddly enough, among the four of them, he was still the one who knew the most. “I don’t know how things were ten thousand years ago but from what I’ve seen on my short visits, things can get quite … rambunctious.”

Jinde laughed lightly. “Then maybe the changes aren’t that big, after all. I remember when we were young, all the festivals were about competing with those our age whether that was in fighting or drinking or anything else we were good at. A lot of people would get carried away, starting to proposition others. There would always be a few fights about that as well.”

Leng Jin Yu glanced at him, smiling wryly. He remembered that time and he especially remembered that ‘proposition others’ had more often than not meant people making eyes at Jinde and trying to gain his attention. Even though at that time, their relationship hadn’t been even close to official, he had still been the one to beat up more than a few people as a result of those untold feelings. But, well, as long as Jinde could still laugh about it …

Jinde also looked at his husband, his lips only curving up further. Looking back now at those foolish, youthful days, especially on an occasion like today, he only felt warm in his heart. No matter what had happened between then and now, hadn’t they all made it out somehow? Even though a lot of things had gone horribly wrong, in the end, they were together and had found their happiness.

He reached out, interlacing his fingers with Leng Jin Yu, and leaned closer. “If you feel like it, I don’t mind watching a few more fights. No doubt you’ll still be able to win.”

Leng Jin Yu hummed. He didn’t doubt that either. After he had just ascended, things might have looked differently but with his memories regained and the knowledge of two lives now being interwoven, things were very different. Even though he lacked the natural advantages of the dragon race, the accumulated age and the experience that came with it should be enough to offset this disadvantage, not to mention that this new life came with new magical abilities. But then, he didn’t think it mattered. “This time around, we’re already married. I’d like to see who dares to try and woo you again with your husband right next to you.”

Jinde pursed his lips. “Well, I guess I’ll have to admit that’s true. What a pity. You always looked so gallant fighting off my admirers.”

Leng Jin Yu faintly shook his head but still squeezed Jinde’s hand. Anyway, if his husband wanted him to, he’d still do it.

Jinde wasn’t actually interested. He was simply having fun. He did like being reminded of the fact that they were already married though. Having messed with his husband for a while, he turned back to the other side and raised his brows at Qiang Yan. “Well, it seems my husband doesn’t want to but maybe the God of War would like to try his luck. The dragon realm is rich in beauties.”

Qiang Yan really didn’t know how to react to that offer. Even though their relationship with the dragons was good and he certainly didn’t mind in general … he also wasn’t over Huan Yin but that wasn’t something Jinde would know. He had hardly even talked about it with his own family. Not wanting to make an issue out of it, he glanced at his sister for help.

Bai Fen sighed and shook her head before turning to Jinde. “I think it’s enough to have one happy couple today. The children have waited so long, we really shouldn’t do anything that’ll take away from their celebration. Although I am a little interested to see how those celebrations turn out. It won’t be an issue if we just watch, will it?”

Jinde shook his head. “It shouldn’t be. Anyway, maybe we should just grab one of Qiu Ling’s advisers. If anything has changed, they’ll know for sure and can help out. Speaking of which …” He turned to look over his shoulder, his golden eyes narrowing. “It seems that the rest is going to catch up in a moment so let’s hear what they have to say.”
