RMN C783 Helping A Little At The Side

Long Shu Fen watched the expressions of the two Elders shift and couldn’t help but think to herself that things were quite lively. Shocking these two into a daze wasn’t helpful though. She lightly cleared her throat and took over. “I presume the Sect Masters also understood how dire the situation is. This battle … No, this war, if it isn’t won, what else is there to protect? We can’t split our forces in half and still expect to stand a chance.”

No, it would be impossible to win that way. Not to mention that all of the demonic sects had gathered to fight … if it was true that the traitor from the Teng Yong Sect was already at the demigod stage, then without offering up every last bit of strength they had to resist, they would never be able to get even close to fighting an even match with the other side.

Well, of course, all of that was even without taking into consideration the person the demonic faction might try to free from the array beneath the continent. But then, if they succeeded in that, then no matter whether anyone was in the sect or not, all hope would be lost anyway. But she’d rather not mention that out loud right now.

Even though Long Shu Fen didn’t mention it, the Elders still thought of this though.

Elder Diao in particular had his doubts. “What about protecting the array?” The plan of the other side was only partially known thanks to an undercover disciple from the Teng Yong Sect but how reliable it was couldn’t be said yet. As for their own conjectures, they were even less certain. As a result, what exactly the other side would do was tough to say.

Simply leaving the four great righteous sects wide open when they might be a possible target of the demonic faction didn’t seem like a good idea no matter how he thought about it. So even though the Jian Chu Sect’s guardian was right, he couldn’t quite come to terms with it. Compared to the impending battle, the array was more important. After all, there was still a slight chance to deal with Feng Bai Xiao, no matter how minuscule it may be, but as soon as that person was freed … he was afraid not even ten times the numbers on their side would make a difference.

Long Shu Fen could only smile wryly. What was she supposed to say? It wasn’t her decision but even if it was, she’d be in favor of this. That person wasn’t free yet and whether the demonic faction could do it was tough to say. After all, the sects hadn’t only existed for a few years. The strength of the array wasn’t that weak, not to mention that they still didn’t know for certain whether this was the actual plan. Compared to such uncertainties, the battle was inevitable and they were well aware that they needed more people to win it so … why not focus on that?

Zhi Guan glanced at her but also didn’t speak up. This wasn’t for them to decide. They had simply presented what they knew to the four Sect Masters. The final decision hadn’t been theirs. In the end, he simply ignored the issues Elder Diao had brought up and focused on the matter at hand. “Either way, reinforcements are coming. We ought to prepare for that so the previous plan won’t be compromised again.”

Elder Xing hurriedly nodded, glancing at Blue Butterfly’s expression. The last time, her Jian Chu Sect had suffered the most losses because their people arrived a step later and ran into the demonic practitioners on the way before everyone else could meet up. He did feel somewhat guilty due to that since they should have planned better. Now, he couldn’t bring back those disciples but, of course, they had to look forward and ensure that there wouldn’t be another issue like this.

Long Shu Fen noticed his gaze but ignored it. Instead, she turned to Zhi Guan, glad that he had helped them change the topic. While he had been the one to report in the first place, Elder Diao clearly didn’t think he had enough sway over the Sect Masters to cause them to make such a decision. Thus, he had mostly focused on her, probably thinking that she had said or done something to force this outcome. Unfortunately, she didn’t know how to explain either and the situation had turned incredibly awkward.

Thinking of how Zhi Guan had effortlessly pulled the topic back, she felt grateful. “Since we’re back and can only wait now, do you want to go and see your third junior martial brother?” While they were at it, she could also speak to Luo Lin again, talking about his copied ability and trying to help him get more familiar with it. Maybe this could also alleviate Zhi Guan’s worries about the upcoming battle.

Even though she didn’t have to do it, these disciples were still relatively close to her after working with them a few times. She also hoped that they could pull through and come out of this alive. In fact, if not because she and the other two were likely to be at the forefront of the later battle, she might even hang around Luo Lin just so Zhi Guan could be reassured. With his ability, she’d be able to pull him into her dreamscape as easily as Zhi Guan could enter it so pretty much any danger could be prevented in a heartbeat. Not to mention that her being close by would also cover up any observation of Luo Lin’s own ability. Whatever happened, people would just attribute it to her.

The more she thought about it, the more she felt that this idea wasn’t bad. In fact, where she was on the battlefield would matter little when everywhere would be fights. She might as well stand with the people who had treated her kindly. Not to mention that Zhi Guan and Luo Lin were still Yun Bei Fen’s senior martial brothers who happened to be Mei Chao Bing’s fiance. It seemed like the obvious choice to stay close to them, now that she considered it from this perspective …
