OMF V11C403 A Scary Beauty

Min Jun furrowed his brows. This reaction didn’t promise anything good. He looked at the middle of the square again and simply motioned over there in the end. “Like about him.”

This time, Fu Heng also furrowed his brows and so did Fu Min next to him. It was one thing to take a little bit of an issue with finding out that the king was a half-blood but … that was still their king! How dare he just point and say ‘about him’? This was too disrespectful!

Fu Min wanted to give him a piece of his mind but Fu Heng hurriedly grabbed his wrist when he saw his husband’s expression twist. Even though he didn’t like to talk, it wasn’t that he didn’t understand. This was a delicate matter with the potential to upset a lot of people. He knew about Min Jun’s past and his hatred for the demons was no secret to anyone who had met him. That he of all people was grappling with this was somewhat expected, even though Fu Heng didn’t feel that it was right.

Either way, no matter their own thoughts, they now had to hold back. If they erupted in anger and slung insults around, it wouldn’t help anyone. Instead, it’d serve them better to stay calm and confront this rationally. After all, Min Jun’s reaction was an emotional one: He hated the demons and someone he admired and thought on ‘his side’ in this fight against them, suddenly turned out to share their blood. He felt betrayed, even though no betrayal had actually happened. If given enough time and some words of guidance, he’d see it the same way. At the very least, Fu Heng wanted to believe that.

Fu Min simply huffed and turned away. He’d just not bother with that guy. Let his husband do the work if he wanted to!

Fu Heng still held on to his husband’s hand but looked at Min Jun instead. “You mean because of his mixed blood? I frankly don’t know what to say. It changes nothing for me.”

Min Jun only furrowed his brows further. “How can that change nothing? He has betrayed us!”

His voice wasn’t necessarily low and some of the people closer by turned to look.

The other generals who also had some feelings immediately felt that things weren’t good. They also felt … well, at least somewhat blindsided but they weren’t enraged to the degree Min Jun was. And no matter what they privately thought, this was still their king’s wedding day, and that to the crown prince of the Nine Heavens no less. If they somehow caused a panic and their king’s new husband came to harm … well, they would have a lot to answer for.

Jia Su was the first to step forward. He hurriedly patted Min Jun’s shoulder and shook his head. “We all were surprised but now isn’t the moment for that.”

Min Jun huffed. “Not the moment? Then when is the moment? He kept such a thing from us! How do we know that tomorrow, we won’t be sold out to the demon realm?”

Fu Heng also glanced at the people over there who were clearly alarmed by the ruckus and glanced at Xiang Yong on the other side of the square. He could talk to Min Jun but he couldn’t force the other person to calm down. If this continued in front of everyone, he was afraid of what the final outcome would be.

Xiang Yong had been surveying everything around from the beginning, making sure that nothing went wrong. Naturally, he had already spotted the commotion when it began. He only didn’t move because both Fu Heng and Fu Min were there and might be able to deal with it. Catching Fu Heng’s gaze though, he made his way over immediately, taking the quickest path around the back of the table.

Qiu Ling tilted his head, looking at him. He felt somewhat guilty, having a good idea of what might be happening over there. It was all because he had suddenly decided to take on his dragon form today. And, well, it had felt good in the moment, to finally give up all pretenses. It had also caused all sorts of problems to do this without planning it ahead of time and preparing at the very least the people in high positions like the generals. Even if not all of them, they should have tried to pull people like Shou Quan or Jia Su to their side beforehand, just so that they’d have more eyes on the situation later.

Now, look at what had happened! He truly didn’t want to care about this on his wedding day but he knew that he might have to if things didn’t calm down under his adviser’s efforts. Also … if this went on, it might become dangerous. Don’t mention the common people all around who could get hurt, what about Jing He?

Just thinking of that, Qiu Ling instinctively pulled Jing He closer. He wouldn’t let anything happen to him. Too much had happened in the past. There wasn’t allowed to be a single incident more.

Xiang Yong hurried over as fast as he could without drawing too much attention and gave General Jia Su a look. He was the one closest to Min Jun and could maybe subdue him if things went completely out of control. He only glanced at him for a moment though, hoping that he had caught his drift, before turning to General Min Jun.

“I can imagine that there are some unresolved feelings about what happened earlier but by arguing out here, you are at most scaring the common people. If this causes a panic, people could get hurt. I know General Min Jun doesn’t want that so why don’t we head inside and discuss there? Adviser Fu Heng and I will answer all the questions you — and naturally the other generals — might have.”

Min Jun glanced over his shoulder and seeing the people looking in their direction, he gritted his teeth. Of course, he didn’t want to harm their own people but … “How do I even know that I can trust you?”

Xiang Yong looked at him quietly and finally motioned around. “Then if not us, who do you trust? Will any of the other advisers do?”

Min Jun only furrowed his brows. At this moment, he didn’t know what to think. He had always believed that their king was someone who understood him like nobody else, that he hated the demons as much as he did. Now … he actually shared their blood. He had judged him wrongly. How could he be sure that he had been right about the advisers now? Maybe all of them were that way …

Before he could find the words to answer, faint steps sounded from behind. “If the advisers won’t do, how about my husband and me?”

Min Jun turned back and found the faint smile of the dragon race’s greatest beauty directed at him. Although, right now … that beauty seemed a little scary.
