RMN C731 Second Senior Martial Brother … Gone!

The couple left the hallway, made their way past the disciples who were waiting around, and finally found a corner with nobody around. They didn’t want to walk off too far or someone might go looking for them to make sure they were alright, putting themselves in danger. As soon as no one was around, Luo Lin used his ability and they quietly left the underground palace, making their way to Luo Lin’s place in the Teng Yong Sect.

Traveling this way required them to think of the same place or they’d be off by half the difference between the two spots. With Luo Lin’s house as the anchor point they both wanted to go to, there simply was no way to go wrong. Even if they didn’t think of the exact spot, they’d still end up behind closed doors. In this specific case, they actually ended up exactly behind the doors separating Luo Lin’s bedroom from the hallway.

Shen Lei raised his brows and walked to the front door, unwilling to waste any time. They didn’t know whether Yan Hong Min would have a way to help them and how much time he’d need to deal with this so they had to hurry. At the same time, he couldn’t help but sigh though. “Don’t you feel like it would be nice to have an ability to stop time as well so you can just … dip out of the situation for a while and just have a moment to yourself?”

Luo Lin looked up at him and smiled. “Just the two of us, outside of time?”

Shen Lei also tilted his head, his lips curving up. “I wouldn’t mind and it’d be practical for sure.”

Luo Lin hummed. He naturally understood the sentiment but … “I wonder if something like that is possible.” They actually knew little about abilities. His own had even allowed them to discover new things. So all things considered, it seemed technically possible that there would be such an ability out there … and that he’d be able to copy it. If it was though, what could such a person do?

He ruminated the question for a moment but then, they had already reached the door of his second senior martial brother’s house so there was no way to pursue it any further. When it came to abilities, they’d have to put in more effort to learn about them after their safe return … if they could even make it. For now, they had to put all their thoughts and efforts into dealing with the demonic faction.

Luo Lin knocked on the door but there was no response from inside. Furrowing his brows, he turned back to his lover. “It seems he isn’t in. Should we … go and ask someone?” There was no reason for them to currently be in the Teng Yong Sect so doing so would definitely make people wonder. He’d rather not do that. Just the idea of being basically imprisoned as the four guardians were was driving him crazy. No, he had to try and keep his ability under wraps. The fewer people knew about it, the better. It was just … they were in a hurry and finding Yan Hong Min on their own might prove difficult.

Shen Lei looked at the door, his expression serious. Spreading out his spiritual sense … “It seems he’s in?” Well, this actually wasn’t unexpected. Yan Hong Min usually stayed in, unless he ventured out to cause mischief or, well, test one of his creations, as he preferred to call his shenanigans.

Shen Lei hummed to himself and then let go of Luo Lin’s hand, simply opening the door and walking in. He made it a point to walk ahead of his fiance, just in case Yan Hong Ming was up to no good again and lying in wait to ambush whoever dared to walk in next. It wouldn’t be the first time he did.

Luo Lin quietly followed behind, looking for traces of his second senior martial brother as well. He soon spotted them … in the form of brightly colored crystals that had been installed at the side of the ceiling. They were actually really pretty but … something told him they might give anyone who came too close a nasty surprise. And what exactly ‘nasty’ constituted was always up to one’s imagination because it usually wasn’t what a normal person would expect. Yan Hong Min just had a way of … making things that were a little odd.

The two of them made their way to the study but still couldn’t see Yan Hong Min.

Shen Lei looked around and faintly raised his brows. Clearly, the person was in the room. He could sense his spiritual energy. He simply couldn’t see him. Usually, he might have taken the time to bother trying to find him just to make Luo Lin’s second senior martial brother happy. Now though, they really didn’t have time for that. “There is an issue in the border region we need your help with. Time is of the essence.”

Yan Hong Min could naturally hear them. Seeing Shen Lei’s serious expression, he pulled down his latest invention, exposing his figure in the middle of the room. “What happened?” Even though he hardly bothered going out, he also knew that things in the border region were especially important and that the situation was dire. In fact, it was already good to see Shen Lei again. It sure hadn’t seemed as if that would happen when Luo Lin originally left.

Shen Lei didn’t answer immediately and instead stared at the contraption in Yan Hong Min’s hand. It looked like a big wooden bucket with a few pieces of cloth attached to it but … well, the effect was pretty good. “Actually, before that … can we borrow this thing?”

Yan Hong Ming’s brows immediately furrowed and he clutched his creation to his chest. “That’s my prototype!” He certainly wouldn’t randomly hand out important prototypes. These were the basis of all of his inventions, after all!

Shen Lei hummed. “It’s about your junior martial brother though. He’s … in a bit of a situation and this might come in handy.”
