OMF V11C381 Why Hadn’t They Known?

Even though nobody spoke, all the half-bloods felt incredibly excited. They exchanged glances and those who could immediately took on their dragon forms, picking up the few who hadn’t been blessed with this ability and rushed after the group ahead.

They would certainly come together to discuss this later and many of them thought of asking Adviser An Bai about this. They were curious, hardly able to contain the excitement about this newfound revelation and the anticipation for the future this man would bring them. They knew that today likely wasn’t the time to get into this more though. After all, their king had just gotten married and the celebration was still underway. They shouldn’t distract from his big day.

Even as half-bloods who didn’t necessarily share the curse of the dragon race, they were well aware of how important a dragon’s partner was to them and what a wedding signified to them. Those who were affected by the same curse naturally felt this even more so and would caution the others if need be.

Anyway, even though their group hadn’t originally been familiar, they had also lived and worked together for several weeks and while it looked like their paths wouldn’t necessarily cross as much in the future, they were more familiar with each other now. They found solace in not being the only ones of their kind any longer and knowing that there would be someone to tell them about news or caution them about potential issues made them feel less alone as well. This idea of mutual support naturally made the opinion of the others more important to them.

The couple had left, their family from the dragon realm, and the king’s advisers had done the same. Qiang Yan and Bai Fen as Jing He’s family were already aware and didn’t understand the significance of the dragons’ coloring anyway so they simply followed together with Jinde and Leng Jin Yu, only falling a little bit behind as they were not as fast as the dragons. Now, even the half-bloods were rushing behind and the remaining trueborn gods who wanted to join in the celebrations in the dragon realm made their way over as well.

Shou Quan scratched her head, also feeling puzzled. As usual, she took the easy way out and leaned closer to her wife. “Why is everyone just standing around? Are we waiting for someone?”

Yu Gan glanced at her and then looked up at the sky. “No, I think we can leave.” She had also seen the markings on their king’s body but … did it really matter?

She didn’t know which race the remainder of his blood came from but she was sure that it made no difference. He was clearly afflicted by the curse of the dragon race, judging by the way he clung to the Son of Heaven. And even if he wasn’t … so what?

This man had reigned for almost ten millennia. In that time, hadn’t he led their race to a better tomorrow? In her eyes, this was what was important. His blood and whatnot … while it came as a surprise — or maybe even a shock —, it had no influence on him as a person. He was still the same man before and after finding out about this so she wouldn’t judge him any differently.

Of course, she knew that not everyone would think like this. There might be issues in the future because of what he had exposed today. Thinking of that, she motioned ahead. “Let’s leave quickly.” She knew that Shou Quan wouldn’t think so much so it was best to put a bit of distance between them and the others and talk about it before they reached the dragon realm. In the future, they ought to support the king and they should think about how to do that best.

With the two of them leaving, the few remaining full-blooded dragons awkwardly stood on the spot and exchanged glances. They were sure of what they had seen and they still didn’t know what to make of it. How come nobody else had said a single word about this? Wasn’t it surprising that their king actually wasn’t a full-blooded dragon? Or had everyone but them known? If this was the case … why hadn’t they been told?

Jia Su furrowed his brows, changed his form, and also followed the two of them. With his taciturn nature, he naturally wouldn’t discuss with the others and had obviously come to his own decision, whatever that may be.

Meanwhile, Chang Bo turned to his wife, his brows furrowed. “This … what should we do? It seems everyone else knew. Why weren’t we told? Is it really that His Majesty doesn’t trust me?” He had felt before that he was side-lined, then today, their gift turned out to not be appreciated much, and now, he even had to find out that such an important matter had been told to others but not him. His identity crisis was definitely being renewed.

His wife furrowed her brows, not sure what to think either. They indeed weren’t as close to the king so it made sense that they didn’t know. With General Shou Quan and General Jia Su leaving this fast, she wondered if they had been told ahead of time. Was it really that her husband wasn’t valued? Ah, maybe they should ask to relocate but then, it seemed like matters at the border were improving with the new demon king. Now, what was a general supposed to do to prove his worth?

She sighed and patted her husband’s arm before pulling her children. “Well, let’s just follow for now. We’ll try to make our presence more known while back in the dragon realm. Maybe we can talk to one of His Majesty’s advisers to find out more. In any case, we shouldn’t have offended the king. At most, it’s that our presence is too low.”

Chang Bo nodded and the two of them changed forms, grabbed their children, and then rushed toward the south as well, leaving the other people behind.
