“Ah?” Jing He could hardly believe that he had heard right, much less come up with an answer to that question. Riding on a dragon … he didn’t think he had ever heard whether that was something normal to do in the dragon realm or not. Considering that everyone had their own dragon form, it likely wasn’t though. Not to mention … even after so many years, he had never even gotten a glimpse of Qiu Ling’s dragon form.
Once upon a time, he had mentioned it and the reaction had been odd. He had feared to have offended the other person somehow but Adviser An Bai had explained it away as Qiu Ling’s worry of scaring him simply due to the size of a dragon. He trusted this scholar of the dragon race and the likely truth was so inconceivable that he had always accepted this explanation. By now though, he knew of Qiu Ling’s heritage so he could imagine that it had something to do with that instead.
Qiu Ling simply hummed though. “Yes. It’s quite a distance until the dragon realm and you’re not used to flying. So how about I carry you?” In the past, he definitely wouldn’t have dared to do this but … why would he care now? It seemed that there was nothing left to worry about. He was already married to Jing He and he had the trust and support of his advisers. Plus, there was Jinde behind him. It seemed like nothing would go wrong, no matter what he did.
Jing He had to admit that he was indeed not used to it. He had barely made his way back to the Nine Heavens from the demon realm under the demon king’s guidance but it had felt incredibly difficult. Even though his magic ability wasn’t low, he hardly ever used it so he lacked a lot of experience and wasn’t that familiar with even the most basic of skills that others used in their daily lives.
Still, his own comfort wasn’t important in this matter. “I can fly. But you …” He knew that Qiu Ling wouldn’t want to expose his dragon form. So no, even if he carried him, it should be like in the vision he saw where Qiu Ling picked him up and carried him in his arms, carrying him all the way with a serious expression.
Looking up at his husband’s face and imagining that scene, Jing He actually blushed. There seemed to be nothing wrong with being held in his own spouse’s arms that way but … all of this was still so new. It was difficult for him to get used to this from one day to the other. It was even more difficult when he thought of how big an audience they currently had.
Qiu Ling raised his brows but didn’t seem worried at all. “What about it?” He really couldn’t care less. Seeing that his beloved was still reluctant, he didn’t want to force it but … if not now, then when would he do this?
He hesitated for a moment but then, still quickly changed forms in front of everyone. Anyway, he might not be afraid now but if you let more time pass, he also couldn’t be sure that he wouldn’t scare himself afterward. He had to use the opportunity now when his mood was still this ecstatic right after the wedding.
The huge form of a dragon suddenly crowded the gate of the capital city of the Nine Heavens and made the people behind stop. Before anyone could process what was happening, it nudged Jing He and made the person tumble onto its back before taking off.
Jing He hastily held onto the huge body beneath, his eyes wide. He couldn’t help but glance back at the people below but the speed of a dragon was fast and they had already risen up far into the air.
Feeling a little unstable, Jing He waved his hand, using his own magic to stabilize himself. At this moment, he couldn’t help but quietly think that he had thankfully not given up any other magic when he was at the Spring of Fate. If he had, then maybe at this moment, he would be in danger of falling down and being injured. If that happened … oh, he’d be too ashamed to look into anyone’s eyes and Qiu Ling might not forgive himself for letting it happen. It really was better this way. Maybe in the future, this would come in handy more often.
Qiu Ling dashed ahead, clearly not intending to wait for the people behind. He had wanted to be alone with Jing He for a long time and even though this wasn’t exactly what he had had in mind, it was better than nothing. Anyway, at least the dragons should catch up soon, and then, after reaching the capital city of his realm, they’d be surrounded by a crowd once again. Ah, getting married really wasn’t easy. At the very least, the time spent between them as a couple was too short. He ought to use the moment when everyone was too stunned to follow to get them at least a little bit of private time.
Qiu Ling’s thoughts were definitely right. Back at the gate, the ones who had been right behind them were their family members and Qiu Ling’s advisers, those who were the most familiar with them and naturally aware of Qiu Ling’s bloodline. Some of them froze, worried about what would happen next while the rest simply looked on.
The most relaxed was certainly Jinde. Even though Qiu Ling hadn’t mentioned this idea to him previously, he had always known that this secret couldn’t be kept forever and today certainly was the best day to expose it. After glancing at the quickly disappearing black dragon, he made it a point to turn to his husband and raise his golden brows. “My dear, have you ever wanted to ride on a dragon?”
Leng Jin Yu’s lips twitched. His own husband … really had a bad taste in jokes.
