RMN C719 Enough Time to Save People?

Unfortunately, this understanding helped little. It finally explained why he was so important to his Master’s plans but apart from that, it seemed to have no practical application. Well, at least not right now. He could later make use of this to cleanse the area around the array and maybe even neutralize the threat of the person caught in the array, as well as get rid of the remnants of ghostly energy in the chasm. But all of these were to be done in the future. They couldn’t help him to somehow subvert the situation and deal with his Master which would have been his goal.

This realization hurt but then, it wasn’t unexpected. Even if he found a way, he still had to rely on this person to help him get Yun Bei Fen back. Until he had the crystal and knew what to do, he couldn’t take any chances. Thus, his newfound knowledge was useless to him.

He stopped thinking about it, opened his eyes, and looked at Lei Chen, indicating that he was ready to continue. Even if things seemed hopeless, at least he could regain the crystal whenever he managed to help Lei Chen reach the next threshold. He had to keep working toward that.

With a goal in front of him, Mei Chao Bing began to transform the energy once again, transmitting it at an even pace, and taking breaks whenever he couldn’t bear it any longer.

Lei Chen didn’t urge him and just quietly took in the energy, circulating it whether more of it was delivered to him or not. The whole thing hardly seemed to faze him, his expression staying the same throughout even though his cultivation level rose at a breakneck pace.

Hours passed by and Mei Chao Bing couldn’t help but wonder just how much time had already gone by since he went to find Yun Bei Fen. Had the fight outside already started? Had Elder Baili and Elder Xing come up with a plan to deal with the demonic faction? Was everyone he knew doing well?

He originally hadn’t cared that much but … after interacting with the others again for a few weeks, he couldn’t deny that there were people apart from his Fen’er he deemed important and wanted to survive this ordeal.

Of course, first and foremost, there were Yun Bei Fen’s senior martial brothers and Shen Lei. They were the closest to them and he knew that his Fen’er would be distraught if anything happened to them. Then there was Xi Ju Hai as Mu Qing’s fiancee who deserved to get out of this matter unharmed after everything else his Master had put her through. But apart from them, there was still a long list of people he cared about: Song Mu whom he had slowly warmed up to again, Liu Bao Ru who had put herself in danger to accompany Zhi Guan in the underground palace, Yuan Lei and Yi Ju who worked in the same group as him before, Kui Min who was close to Yun Bei Fen and had supported the two of them early on, or even Gongsun Chen who didn’t trust him at first but learned to get over his prejudice much sooner than others.

Looking back now, it seemed that these short few weeks in the border region had opened the eyes of many people and allowed him to reintegrate into the sect. If he could, he wanted to protect this newfound trust. He just didn’t know how.

The only thing he could see as somewhat of a bright side to the situation was that his Master would likely stay here until he and Lei Chen had reached a high enough level. Maybe they would even advance until they were ready to advance and not bother with anything else. If that was the case, the situation would immediately become more favorable to their side.

After all, the impact a single cultivator at the Demigod stage had on a fight was tremendous. In fact, calling such a person the decisive factor in who would win and who would lose wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

This meant that as long as his Master was around, the demonic faction had the upper hand but if he genuinely stayed out of the fight and left before it could be decided, then the strength of both sides could be considered equal in general. Of course, this was only if you didn’t take into consideration that the demonic faction had been making preparations for a while. But then, those preparations had all been done with the understanding that they’d have his Master there.

So maybe there would indeed be a chance to win. The prerequisite was that his Master didn’t get involved and that … well, it didn’t seem impossible. His Master obviously cared most about himself. It was almost a miracle that he had Lei Chen not only tag along on this journey but even allowed him to level up this crazily in front of his eyes while he himself patiently waited his turn. It did make one wonder what their relationship was.

Mei Chao Bing didn’t even try to figure out that detail. There were hardly any clues to go off even about the general situation, much less such small details. It would serve him better to ponder other parts of it so he could maybe develop a few ideas. For example, if his Master and Lei Chen truly ascended without bothering about the big battle … what should be his own first course of action?

He wanted to see Yun Bei Fen and make sure that he could be woken up. At the same time, he also wanted to save the others if he could. He wasn’t sure if there was any type of time limit to do the former while he was very aware that every minute that fight went on, people on either side would die. The question was: How much of a risk did he dare to take when it came to Yun Bei Fen’s life? The answer, of course, was obvious, even if his little bunny would be distraught if something happened to the people he knew and loved.
