OMF V11C118 A Destined Lover

Just like the Fate’s Scribe, the God of Love looked up in surprise when he was told that Xin Lan had arrived to see him. When it came to the palaces of the titled gods, there were few people who came to them unless the palace had a public-facing task. This sure wasn’t the case for the Palace of Fate or the Palace of Love though.

The current situation was even odder because the person who came by wasn’t a god at all but a dragon and it was even one who had come to inquire about a matter previously. Who knew what he wanted this time around? It probably wouldn’t be easy.

He hummed in greeting and put down the shears he had been holding. “Senior Xin Lan, it is nice to see you again.”

Xin Lan nodded but didn’t want to bother with niceties. Before the God of Love could try to invite him in for a cup of tea, he motioned over to the Tree of Love that stood behind him. “I am trying to find a person’s reincarnation but have little information on my hands. I was hoping you could tell me his destined lover so I can continue my search from there.”

Yue Xia raised his brows. This sure was a different question from what one would usually expect but at least it didn’t seem too difficult. “Then who is Senior Xin Lan looking for?”

“I am afraid I don’t know who he currently is.” Xin Lan could only smile wryly. “I do know that he was a demon who went by the name of Yan Xia in his last life. Now, he should be human as he seems to be in the mortal realm.”

The God of Love put on a pensive expression. Yan Xia … why did that name seem vaguely familiar? He pondered for a moment but couldn’t remember at this moment. Either way, this matter had just gotten more difficult. “It won’t be easy to find a person with such vague information. Is there nothing else you can tell me about him?”

Xin Lan looked at the tree with the silver leaves, his brows furrowing faintly. Anything else … “Well, he was married to a trueborn god called Xiang Yu. He should have died …” He narrowed his eyes, thinking back to when he had met Xiang Yu for the first time. “At least nine or maybe ten thousand years ago.” Yes, at that time, Jinde had just died and Xiang Yu was wandering the demon king’s palace like a ghost haunting it. Clearly, Yan Xia had already been dead. As for how long exactly it had been … it was tough to say but he felt that it shouldn’t have been that much earlier.

The God of Love raised his brows. He finally realized why this name had sounded so familiar: The last time, hadn’t Xin Lan come to him to ask about a fallen god by the name of Xiang Yu who fell because of his marriage to precisely this man of the demon race? And when he checked the leaves of the Tree of Love, that fallen god’s destined love … had turned out to be Senior Xin Lan.

Yue Xia felt somewhat troubled by this situation. At that time, he hadn’t mentioned what he had seen to Xin Lan. In any case, while they might have been destined, the person had already fallen so any chance of a future together was gone. If anything, it still needed to depend on that fallen god to be killed and reincarnated. Such a thing could take forever to happen, so why burden this man with such knowledge?

But now, Xin Lan had returned to ask about his destined lover’s previous husband and was even looking for his reincarnation. It seemed … not that good. He wasn’t sure if he should really look into this. It felt as if by doing so, he would inevitably mess up something that was in the most delicate equilibrium and couldn’t bear to be disturbed.

Even though he doubted whether it was a good decision, the God of Love still nodded in the end. “I see. I presume you don’t know more about his current incarnation?” In any case, it was not yet clear if he could find anything at all. He should first check thoroughly. Later … he could still advise Xin Lan to be more cautious.

The dragon could only shake his head. “No, nothing at all.” He fell silent and then thought of the little he knew about Yan Xia. “I suppose in his life as Yan Xia, he had at least one or two other lovers. I don’t know details about that though.” And even that was only a guess based on the close resemblance between that man, Bai Mu, and Xiao Li. There was no telling if they didn’t hail from another branch of Yan Xia’s family though.

Yue Xia nodded and turned to the Tree of Love. “Then I will give it a try.” He stepped forward, reached up, and gently plucked one of the silver leaves. Holding it between his palms, he imbued some of his spiritual energy and murmured the incantation that had been passed down since the time the tree first grew.

Slowly, the light around the leaf brightened and words started to emerge. They were densely written, showing that this demon had had quite a few endeavors in the realm of love. Well, at least as much as a demon could.

Unable to actually read any of the small characters, the God of Love used his spiritual energy to absorb the knowledge from the leaf. When he did though … his expression turned somber and he couldn’t help but glance at Xin Lan. What he wanted to know wasn’t difficult to tell but … he’d better not let him have a direct look at this leaf. After all, if he knew how much his destined other half had suffered at the hands of this demon … who knew how he would take it?
