OMF V11C74 At Least Listen First

No matter who was in front, it didn’t change what they would talk about. Thus, he simply nodded at the God of Justice in terms of greeting. “Has Leng Jin Yu told you what I’ve found?”

Li Yin also didn’t want to beat around the bush. “Yes. Is it true that a fallen god could be turned back into a trueborn god?”

Qiu Ling hummed. “It seems that way. According to the supreme sovereign, every fallen god has a reason why they fall. If this reason is worked on, their soul can be restored to its original form, the Mark of Wisdom will vanish, and they will once again be trueborn gods.”

Li Yin took a deep breath. This was … truly good news. Especially so since he knew where Leng Lu’s issues lay. As long as he talked about it with him, they should be able to find a way to turn him back. Knowing this, he almost heaved a sigh of relief.

By now, Bai Fen and Qiang Yan had also rushed over to squeeze around the transmission stone, staring at Qiu Ling intently. “Then do you know how we can help Jing He?”

Qiu Ling’s expression turned a little uncomfortable. This was precisely what he had worried about. It helped that Leng Jin Yu had introduced the general situation but it seemed like he still had to do the difficult part himself. He cleared his throat, his expression still troubled. “This … is the not-so-great part: We can’t really do anything.”

Bai Fen’s eyes widened. “What do you mean? And Qiu Ling, please don’t speak so hesitantly. My heart really can’t take it!” This was the life of her son they were talking about here. She had already lost one child. She couldn’t take this a second time. The last two days since Jing He’s disappearance became known, she hadn’t known what to do. Now that there was finally news and even good ones, things should be better but she didn’t feel any less anxious. If he didn’t get this out with at once, she really didn’t know if she could take it.

Qiu Ling hummed. He also understood how she felt. Well, in any case, the Heavenly Emperor somehow didn’t seem to be there so why hold back? If it was just his mother-in-law and his uncle-in-law, then this was alright. “Jing He is still unconscious so I couldn’t ask him myself. All of this relies on what Tian himself told me. Well, according to that, what caused Jing He’s fall was being undecided about what to do. On the one hand, he wanted to marry me, while on the other hand, he didn’t want to disappoint his father. Faced with these opposing choices, he finally couldn’t take it and his soul shattered.”

Bai Fen nodded, not in the least bit surprised. Jing He had been torn up over that even before the trial. Now that it had ended and that her husband had once again started to cause issues between the two lovers, thinking that his fall was related to that didn’t seem far-fetched.

While the Heavenly Empress accepted these words outright, somebody else wasn’t as easy to convince. “Ridiculous!” Rong Su finally made his way over as well, pushing the God of Justice out of the way to glare at Qiu Ling. “Are you trying to say that I am the reason my son fell?”

Qiu Ling’s expression had been serious the whole time. Seeing the angry face of the Heavenly Emperor now, it turned even more solemn. He didn’t answer immediately and instead thought of his conversation with Tian earlier. In the end, he sighed faintly. “Tianjun, with all due respect, I can’t say in good conscience that you’re not. That is not to say that all of this is your fault. If anything, I bear just as much responsibility as you. But at this point, is that really what you want to argue about?”

Rong Su huffed. “Just because you say that this is the reason, I have to believe it?”

“Tian said so.”

“Oh. The person who cursed our races and is known to hate my family has said so. Certainly, that is very trustworthy news.”

Qiu Ling’s expression fell but he forced himself to keep calm. In the future, he would still have to get along with this man so he couldn’t give him a piece of his mind the way he would have liked. Still, he wasn’t afraid to put things on the table.

He got up from where he had still been sitting at the edge of the bed and then walked over to the door to the garden. He knew it wouldn’t make a difference but he felt like it would disturb Jing He if he stayed there and he didn’t want that. His beloved had suffered enough. He should be allowed to rest now.

Leaning against the doorway, he stared at the Heavenly Emperor’s projection. “Your son fell after he stayed at your palace and talked to you about your plans regarding his future marriage. Do you dare to say these two things are not related?” His voice sounded strangely calm even though he didn’t feel like that in his heart. Although … in fact, saying these words and thinking of Jing He, his anger had indeed dimmed somewhat. Right now, he only felt tired.

“Tianjun, I know you don’t want to hear this but Jing He has fallen. This is a fact. You can come to the High Heavens to verify if you don’t believe me, you can refuse to do so and continue to doubt my words, or you can trust me for once. Either way, it won’t change the facts. Right now, we have one chance to get Jing He back as a trueborn god. There isn’t much we can do save for waiting but I would think that as somebody who loves Jing He, you should be willing to at least listen to me explain. That shouldn’t be asking too much.”
