RMN C776 A Bad Feeling

Zhi Guan lowered his eyelids, hiding the gaze below. “There is no letter … but Senior Blue Butterfly was so kind to move the fallen disciples of your sect after we were embroiled in a fight with what seemed to be the group sent by the other side to scout out the situation. Maybe this will convince Sect Master Du that the news I bring is reliable.”

Du Jiang stared at the person he had expected to be more amicable than their own guardian, somewhat unable to believe a disciple from another sect had just dared to say that to him. He really wanted to scold him for doing so but then, this guy made it seem as if he only said this to convince him. Chastising him despite that … wouldn’t he be the only one who lost face then?

He suppressed the faint anger boiling beneath the surface and turned to Blue Butterfly instead. “You moved someone? How am I to understand that?” Never mind the current situation in the border region, this part bothered him a lot more.

The guardians were supposed to stay put, especially so their guardian who clearly had the ability to completely alter the way around them. If she turned on them the way that Elder Feng from the Teng Yong Sect had back then, would their Jian Chu Sect even have a chance to survive?

But now, it turned out that she had left her post to wander over to the border region, being seen by their own Elders and those of the other three great righteous sects stationed there, as well as a bunch of disciples. Wouldn’t everyone there think they had no control over their guardian? This had certainly never happened to any of them! And the worst part was that nobody in their own sect had even noticed she was gone.

It seemed that after those matters in the border region were over, he’d have to consult Sect Master Che again to strengthen that array that should make her stay put and then also add something to monitor her. Clearly, it was necessary!

Long Shu Fen didn’t care about the Sect Master either. “You can understand it as is! I went to the border region to pick up our disciples. I also took the opportunity to speak to the Elders from the other sects and that’s how I know all of this is true. So would the Sect Master bother to get onto this now?”

Du Jiang’s fingers twitched. He really would have loved to immediately get onto her case and lock her up more securely at once or at least tell her to show some respect but … it didn’t seem right to argue about this in front of an outsider either. Not to mention that Blue Butterfly looked ready to escalate further if he didn’t give her a decision. Her tone already showed major annoyance and he definitely didn’t want to anger her into causing more issues.

Well, there wasn’t much of a decision to be made either. If he dared to say no, she’d definitely make a fuss. Plus, with someone from the Teng Yong Sect here and the other three sects apparently having agreed already, how could they be the only ones to refuse? That would completely destroy the image of the Jian Chu Sect.

Du Jiang straightened up and gave a curt nod. “Of course, the Jian Chu Sect will extend help. I was simply trying to ascertain what the exact situation is. We can’t go into something like this blindly.” He turned back to Zhi Guan, feeling that even though his tongue might be somewhat poisonous, it still wasn’t as bad as Blue Butterfly’s attitude. “So, what exactly is going on?”

Zhi Guan glanced up at him but refused to explain further. “As I said, there was a fight with a scout group, there were losses, and we need more support in light of the likely future developments. We’d be much obliged if people could be sent out fast as we can’t very well plan when the next attack will happen and we are currently in a more disadvantaged position compared to the demonic faction.”

Du Jiang wasn’t quite satisfied with such a general rundown but time was indeed of the essence in this kind of situation. “Then I will call the Elders so we can discuss together and gain a better understanding.”

Zhi Guan didn’t say anything and simply watched as Sect Master Du took out a row of paper talismans and imbued them with spiritual energy to send them out. As he was focused on that, Zhi Guan turned to look at Blue Butterfly and lightly shook his head.

When others said his perception was high, he wasn’t sure what exactly that meant. But he was very well aware that his intuition was often miles ahead of other disciples. He felt that it should be honed from his practice that allowed him to take in more details but he couldn’t be sure. Either way, at this moment, his intuition told him that they couldn’t say much. The more they exposed, the worse it would be.

He didn’t know why. He was even doubting himself somewhat but … his senses had never lied to him. Was he more on edge than usual with the situation in the border region? Likely. But he didn’t dare to bet on this. He’d rather take it seriously and not tell this person and the Elders he was calling over what they knew. That way … maybe nothing bad would happen.

Long Shu Fen looked at him but she didn’t have the kind of implicit understanding with him that she shared with the other three guardians. Thus, she could only look at him in confusion and hope that he could give her more of a hint.

Zhi Guan … stood up after a moment of consideration and inclined his head toward Sect Master Du. “I have informed you of what the sect should know. There are still many matters to attend to so I’ll take my leave. I am sure the Sect Master and the Elders would like to discuss this matter with Senior Blue Butterfly but I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble her to bring me back so as to not lose time.” Then, he turned and strode out before Sect Master Du could say anything, giving Blue Butterfly a deep look as he did.
