While the Zhen Yan Sect organized everything, Long Shu Fen had gone to the Li Ren Sect and told Shang Qiang about everything as well. His status in the sect wasn’t as awkward as hers either so even though he wouldn’t simply leave his platform, he still pulled out a paper crane and sent a message to the Sect Master, asking the person to come over to discuss.
Long Shu Fen didn’t really want to go to speak to her own sect so she dawdled on the spot and finally remembered the bodies she was supposed to deliver. She sighed to herself, thinking that maybe she should have stayed with Zhi Guan after all, and then got to work, carrying out one body after the other and lining them up close by.
As a result, when the Sect Master of the Li Ren Sect showed up, they were greeted by their sect’s dead disciples and the guardian of the Jian Chu Sect sitting next to them. Raising their brows, they looked at Shang Qiang for an explanation.
Shang Qiang could only sigh and motioned for Blue Butterfly to explain herself. Anyway, she knew more details about this so she could answer any questions much better.
Long Shu Fen didn’t hesitate either but after telling the same story over and over again, she couldn’t help but start to become short. “The situation in the border region has worsened and people need further support. I brought back your sect’s disciples who didn’t make it in the last fight.”
The Sect Master once again looked at the lined-up bodies and then turned to Shang Qiang. Anyway, he was more familiar with her and had likely received more information as well.
Shang Qiang didn’t want to make too long of a story about this either so he simply looked back at the Sect Master. “It seems there is a plan in place for the next stretch of the war but they’ll need more people for the final battle. It’s not far off so people will have to set off immediately.”
He knew he might not be allowed to do so but he would like to be a part of this fight as well. After all, his ability was really handy in a fight. He could definitely do a lot more on the battlefield than sitting here on this stupid platform! But then, while his situation was better than Long Shu Fen’s, it also couldn’t be considered rosy. Nobody liked a person with an ability making them strong enough to be extremely hard to kill. At the very least, this was the attitude the sects had had back then.
White Jade’s explanation wasn’t any more substantial than Blue Butterfly’s but the Sect Master at least gathered that the situation was urgent and that there was no time to hesitate. “Then I’ll go and arrange matters.” They looked at the disciples laid out on the ground and sighed but didn’t say anything else before turning away. Since there wasn’t time, they couldn’t deal with that right now.
Long Shu Fen watched him leave and turned back to Shang Qiang. “I’ll leave as well then. I still need to bring the disciples to the Zhen Yan Sect.”
Shang Qiang reached out and grabbed her sleeve before she could step into her dreamscape. “Take me along.”
Long Shu Fen raised her brows. “To the Zhen Yan Sect?”
“Yes, and also to the border region when you go there. Didn’t you say this battle would be big? How can we just sit back and do nothing? This title of guardian shouldn’t just be for show.” In fact, he knew very well that it more or less was but … he wanted to take this chance of leaving aboveboard for once. After all, such chances were rare, if not completely inexistent.
Long Shu Fen knew him well so she naturally understood why he wanted to do this. To be honest, she herself had similar thoughts. No matter how the sects had treated them, they had their own ideals and they should act based on them. Taking part in this kind of battle was definitely something they’d both want to do.
“Alright, get ready then. I’ll accompany you.” Maybe Tong Chen and Yan Jian Hong would even come with them so they could fight like in the old days. Although, truth be told, they might be a little rusty. After all, while the experience and the knowledge were all there, it had been a long time since they actually took part in any fights, much less a full-on battle. The last one had been the one in the south. Since then, all four of them had stayed cooped up in their own sects, hardly ever interacting.
Shang Qiang almost heaved a sigh of relief when she agreed. He closed his eyes and focused, trying to enter the right state as fast as he could. They had to be gone before the Sect Master or anyone they might have sent came back here. Otherwise, if he was directly told not to go, things would get more complicated. Of course, he wouldn’t stay away just because of that but he might cause more trouble for Long Shu Fen and he didn’t want to do that. Plus, it’d be an endless argument afterward, just like back then after the battle was finished and the dust had settled.
Even though they hadn’t fought together for a long time, they had still secretly met up a few times at least so entering the right state to step into Blue Butterfly’s dreamscape wasn’t difficult for Shang Qiang. After a mere few minutes, he was in and the two of them rushed back toward the Zhen Yan Sect. As for what the Sect Master and the Elders of the Li Ren Sect would think … well, Shang Qiang didn’t really care at that moment.
