While Long Shu Fen changed the dreamscape around them, Zhi Guan was already carrying in a second disciple. As he didn’t need any preparation to enter the dreamscape and was simply taking a single step to do so, he was basically just carrying each body a few steps, not needing much time.
Shen Lei and Luo Lin could also enter the dreamscape easily but this still had to rely on Luo Lin using his copied ability. As a result, both of them had one hand tied up, and carrying the disciples wasn’t as easy. They didn’t want to drop anyone, after all, so they had to be careful.
Still, no matter how fast or slow everyone was, with four people working together, they still managed to move the bodies of the fallen disciples into the dreamscape much faster than if Long Shu Fen had done all of this on her own. After a mere quarter of an hour, everyone had been moved to where they should be.
Standing inside the dreamscape, the four people looked at the bodies that were once again arranged in neat rows before exchanging glances.
“Should we help bring them back as well?” Even though the two of them were the least efficient, Luo Lin still felt that they shouldn’t simply leave everything to Blue Butterfly now. Maybe it was because he had almost lost Shen Lei while in the border region but the thought of simply ignoring these people was tough to bear.
They were also somebody’s family member, friend, or lover. Even if not for that, they had done so much for their sects. They also deserved to be taken care of and be laid to rest peacefully. Of course, he also understood that this was a luxury in times of war. But then, if they could make it happen despite the circumstances, then this was what they should do.
Before Blue Butterfly could respond though, Zhi Guan already shook his head. “We don’t know when the other side will attack and you and Ah Lei are important for our plan to work. You shouldn’t leave again.” He had originally proposed for them to get Blue Butterfly but that was in part due to the fact that the previous battle had just ended so there was some time before they should expect the next attack. The more time passed, the less they could be sure of that though. By now, it was best for his third junior and Shen Lei to stay put.
Shen Lei also nodded. If it was just going to one place, it might not be an issue but things weren’t that simple. Blue Butterfly still wanted to return every disciple to their own sect and if she would also try to get more reinforcements for them, then who could really say how long this would take? It was too risky for them to follow along.
Luo Lin immediately acquiesced when he heard his first senior martial brother’s explanation. While he wanted to help, he also knew that when and where to help was crucial at times like these. “Then we’ll stay behind. You help out the senior. If there is anything else you need …”
Zhi Guan hummed and stepped forward, hugging Luo Lin. “Be careful.” He couldn’t be sure if he’d be back before the next fight if he followed Blue Butterfly now. While there was a plan in place, nobody could tell if things would go according to what they had imagined. If they didn’t … well, one person might not make much of a difference overall but in regard to his junior martial brother, it was different. After all, while he would certainly be where he could make the most difference on the battlefield, he wasn’t above keeping half an eye on Luo Lin.
This was his junior, the one studying under the same Master. If there was one person he was responsible for among everyone in the sect who took part in this fight, it would be him. Of course, he’d also try to save any of the other disciples if he could but Luo Lin was special to him, just like Yun Bei Fen and Yan Hong Min. He’d never pretend otherwise.
Luo Lin nodded. “Don’t worry. I don’t take unnecessary risks. And isn’t Ah Lei still here to protect me?”
Zhi Guan looked at his third junior martial brother, thinking of the scenes he had witnessed earlier today. Somehow, he wasn’t so sure that he wouldn’t take unnecessary risks. While this was certainly the case in ordinary times, it looked like his junior was behaving a little differently today. With the battles ahead only being more difficult and Luo Lin already being exhausted … who knew what would happen?
Even though he had his doubts, he simply nodded and didn’t mention any of his concerns. Either way, nobody could tell what would happen on the battlefield, and even Luo Lin who usually didn’t bother about missions and such things had his own pride. Even though he had the ability, he likely wouldn’t try to escape and wouldn’t hold anything back either. On the contrary, he might go all out. In a way … he couldn’t even blame him. After all, he would do the same.
He let go of him and instead turned to Shen Lei. He didn’t say anything and simply nodded. Anyway, Shen Lei would protect Luo Lin no matter what and he had the strength to back it up. With him there, he could feel a little assured at least.
Shen Lei inclined his head as well and then turned to Blue Butterfly, bidding farewell to her as well. Finally, he and Luo Lin left the dreamscape, returning to where everyone else had gathered.
By now, most of the preparations that could be made had been finished and those who needed to be healed had received some treatment at least. As a result, there was nothing left to do besides waiting but then, this at least gave them the chance to rest a little.
