RMN C751 Something More He Could Do

Luo Lin managed to help two of the disciples close by but, of course, the disciples the demonic faction had brought along were neither of a low level nor lacking in experience. After two of them fell to sneak attacks from the side, the people close by naturally noticed and were even more on guard. Even worse, two who managed to get rid of their own opponents turned to this side and eyed the couple that was still holding hands on the battlefield.

Luo Lin’s expression changed. He had wanted to help the others but the two of them were in the thick of it. He hadn’t thought he’d draw attention this fast but now, it had already happened. He quickly glanced at the demonic practitioner opposite Shen Lei.

The person was clearly losing ground but he was also gritting his teeth, holding on for longer than imagined. If two more people joined … Shen Lei wouldn’t be able to cope. Not with a person needing to be taken along.

Luo Lin panicked and quickly clenched his free hand. He had to help! Keep those people at bay first!

He condensed spiritual energy again, quickly throwing an attack at one of the disciples before changing directions and attacking the other. Unfortunately, even though space was limited, it was still enough to evade attacks. Even worse, if they were invaded, they could easily hit others, including people on their side. That was why most of the disciples were using swords instead of spiritual attacks and only supported the blade with some practices.

Luo Lin cursed under his breath. He couldn’t risk it. He had to do something else!

Shen Lei quickly glanced at him and warily eyed those people coming closer. He also understood how dire the situation was. He had to quickly finish off the guy in front so that they had a chance.

His mind moved and he let go of Luo Lin’s hand, instead grabbing his waist and pulling him closer. Holding Luo Lin and jumped to the side, his blade striking out several times in quick succession. He didn’t have a hand free to aid those attacks with spiritual energy but thinking of Luo Lin’s sneak attacks before, his eyes narrowed.

He tilted his head to his lover’s ear and lowered his voice. “Aim for the ground.” That way, they could destabilize the person or at least narrow down the positions he could move to, making the fight much easier.

Luo Lin didn’t need to be told twice. With Shen Lei holding him like this, he had both hands free. He threw one attack after the other, aiming as low as possible so as not to hit anyone else. With that concern out of the way, he didn’t hold anything back either. If the attack hit the ground, it’d destroy some of the floor, making it more difficult to traverse. If it hit the person, it’d definitely cause more wounds. Either way, he’d be a big hindrance to this guy!

Shen Lei smiled and continued to attack himself. He couldn’t hold Luo Lin like this for too long but it’d be enough to finish that guy off.

The other two disciples cursed and weaved through the crowd faster but with the weapons and attacks everywhere they were still a step too late. The original opponent fell down, just as the first of them reached them.

Shen Lei smirked but finally had to let go of Luo Lin. Putting him back on the ground, he grabbed his hand again, pulling him close. “Defend yourself and continue tripping them up if you can.”

Luo Lin nodded and first put up another shield, worried about pulling down Shen Lei’s chances of winning if he put himself in danger. Then, he quickly started to look for opportunities to attack again. He didn’t use his full strength, afraid to tire himself out while the battle was still in full swing. He had to conserve some strength for now and just use opportunities as they presented themselves. Anyway, they weren’t the only ones fighting. This matter was for everyone to solve.

Shen Lei threw himself into the first fight, giving it his all. He had to wound this person at least somewhat before the other person reached them and there was little time for that. If he didn’t gain some kind of advantage, he’d be in a tough spot afterward. Who knew if he could still protect his Ah Lin at that time?

His strikes only grew fiercer as he thought of his lover’s worry and fear that likely troubled his heart. He wanted nothing more than to protect the one he loved, to keep the home Luo Lin had found for him forever, to not let the demonic faction take that dream of peace from them.

Luo Lin likewise did his best but his painted brows furrowed tightly with each strike. There was so little he could do, despite this ability he had finally figured out he had. If only there was something he could do … But what could that be?

He thought of all the abilities he had copied: The dreamscape would allow them to quickly change their position but on such a chaotic battlefield, it was impossible for them to pick the same spot as before, making it too risky. White Jade’s ability only let him glow which could distract their opponents but would likewise distract everyone else, possibly causing more casualties on their side. The Red Priest’s healing ability would only be useful later on if Shen Lei was injured and the Black Warrior’s foresight couldn’t help at all.

As for his little junior’s ability … he had little control over it. With that projection appearing mirrored on his side, how was he to make sure the attacks hit? The demonic practitioners would hardly stand still for him and the projection only blindly followed Shen Lei’s movements, not thinking for itself. It could only hit according to what he hit.

Luo Lin’s eyes suddenly brightened. Actually … maybe there was no need to mirror it but he had never tried that before. If he attempted it now, would he give himself away? But then, the second demonic practitioner had already reached them, and looking at Shen Lei’s face, he didn’t hesitate any longer. He wanted to help. If he exposed himself, then so be it!
