While Si Yi kept the bloggers and reporters back, the other four people had made their way back to the car where they could talk in peace.
Thankfully, the cars of the Si clan were all fitted with the same locking system so Si San took over Si Yi’s task of opening the door and letting their master in before he took the place next to him on the backseat, shooing Si Shi Er and his boyfriend to the front.
Having done that, he raised his brows at his master. “What might be the problem?” And could they talk about it in front of an outsider?
Si Jin clearly didn’t care about this specific outsider, considering that he was Si Shi Er’s boyfriend and they seemed to be far away from breaking up. “How to be interesting?”
Si San looked at him, not sure what to make of that question. In this case, it wasn’t so much that he didn’t understand the question itself, it was more that there was a bit of context missing. “Interesting when and to whom?” Although, come to think of it, he could already imagine. “You mean like to young master Xiao? In the context of the show?” Because he felt like Si Shi Qi had given quite a few suggestions for that already.
Si Jin shook his head though. “In general.” In any case, while it would be nice to be interesting in the show so he could catch his eye, the important point was keeping his interest in the long run. He really wasn’t sure how to do that and he didn’t want to just have a short-lived relationship. This matter with Xiao Ming … he hoped it could be for life.
Si San gave his master an exasperated look. “Well, just be yourself!” He really didn’t know why he was asking him about this. If he wanted tips on how to make himself more interesting, shouldn’t he ask Si Si or Si Shi Qi? In any case, he was just a pilot. Being a pilot was pretty interesting to most people but that wasn’t really something he could tell his master, could he?
On second thought … “Well, maybe get a hobby or something. I mean being a businessman isn’t necessarily something that screams ‘So exciting! I want to know more!’ So maybe find something outside of work that would be more interesting.”
Si Jin still stared at him. “But how?” Not being able to find a hobby was precisely what he was worried about. He just didn’t have any interests.
Si San looked at his master, wondering if he was currently joking with him because he couldn’t believe that this was actually a problem to him. But then again, his master was the kind of person who knew everything and could do everything.
To him, something as simple as finding a hobby was probably quite difficult. Because if you were able to do things after trying them a couple of times, could any of that really hold your interest long-term? When he thought about it in this way, he could suddenly understand just why his master was having such trouble.
He leaned back and folded his hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling of the car. “Well, usually, people choose hobbies that are challenging to them or just something that gives them some kind of benefit.
“For example, some people like to go fishing or painting because it calms their mind. If they have a stressful job, that’s a good thing for them. Some others might work in an office all day and want to have some kind of difference to that so they go out and do extreme sports. Or maybe they’re just seeking a thrill that they don’t have in life usually. That’s the kind of thing that people want to have as a hobby.”
Si Jin turned back to the front, staring at the back of the driver’s seat. He wasn’t sure what to do. When it came to him, he didn’t really have any of these problems.
He was free to do whatever he wanted with his time because, quite frankly, while he was called a businessman, he was at that point in life where everything was working for him. He had people to take care of these things and when there was enough money in the first place and somebody to care for it a little at the side, it would just get more on its own.
In any case, he never had to think about these things. Work … he didn’t really know what that was. Well, to him, work was probably working on bettering himself for the benefit of the Si clan. And that … it could be anything.
Reading about things that he had no idea about or learning new skills whether they were theoretical or practical. There was a lot he had done over the years so it wasn’t like he was some bored person who needed balance in his life. This advice was really not that helpful.
Si San looked at him, and even though there wasn’t any expression on his master’s face, he could figure out what he was thinking roughly. “You know, just be spontaneous! If you find something you haven’t done before, jump at it. A person doesn’t necessarily need to have one specific hobby. Just trying new things can be interesting too. Just make sure you talk about it more.
“Now, I’d like to get back in there. I’m still trying to find a girlfriend today.” Seeing that his master didn’t refuse, he opened the door and got back out, going back to the hall where he had originally been so he could join for the rest of the talk.
On the other hand, Si Jin continued to stare at the seat in front of him, pondering what Si San had just told him. Jump at opportunities to do things he hadn’t done before … well, that sounded easy enough. And currently, he had the perfect opportunity to do so, didn’t he?
Thinking for a moment longer, Si Jin finally opened the car door as well and also walked back to the center.
Si Shi Er and his boyfriend exchanged looks.
“So where is he going?” Fu Jia pointed out of the window where Si Jin was walking at a fast pace.
Si Shi Er looked at his master’s back and sighed. “Probably going to try new things. We should follow along.”
Fu Jia didn’t understand the whole matter but he still nodded and the two of them also got out of the car, following behind Si Jin. In any case, they didn’t really have anything better to do for the rest of the day. They might as well accompany him.
Si Jin had remembered the schedule that Fu Jia had shown him before but most of these were just talks that didn’t sound very interesting. No, the most interesting was probably the events that had actually just been arranged for fun like the cutting contest that he had taken part in before. If he remembered correctly, there should be more of those throughout the day.
At this moment, Si Jin really would’ve liked to have Si Yi at his side to make an itinerary for him. But in any case, for now, he at least knew one hall where he could find something like that.
Thus, the person who had just left already came back right after Si Yi had finished talking with the bloggers and reporters. When the people in question saw him return, they couldn’t help but stare blankly, not quite sure what to make of this. In the end, they could only come to one conclusion: Business people really were quite odd.
Si Jin ignored their gazes and just focused on the task at hand: doing something new. Actually, none of the contests that would be held here were really that new to him. After all, he had learned to cook from Si Shi Wu and had already taken part in the casting of ‘Golden Spoon’. Still, when it came to doing something immediately, this was the best that he had available. As for anything else, he was afraid he would have to find some other opportunities.
He looked through the list of contests for the rest of the day to figure out what he could still sign up for. Usually, each contest wouldn’t take that much time. There were three per hour, each of them lasting fifteen minutes while there would be a five-minute break in between. He had actually joined the second cutting contest of that hour and by now, the third one was coming to an end. Thus, there would be a new type of contest starting soon.
Looking at the list, he had to find out that the first two had already been completely filled with people but there was still one spot left over in the third one.
Si Jin immediately noted down his name and then looked over the others, finding that there were still two more contests after this one. He wrote his name down there as well, choosing the first slot that was open, and then went to find a spot at the side to sit down and watch the contestants of the current cutting contest.
Si Shi Er and his boyfriend looked at each other and then followed over to the list, also writing down their names wherever they could, feeling that they should support him.
Fu Jia couldn’t help but lean closer to his boyfriend while he did so. “He must really love that guy if he actually does so much to have him notice him. Is it really necessary though? I mean, he’s a good-looking guy. It shouldn’t be that difficult to get somebody interested in him.”
In any case, especially when it was another man, good looks were usually enough to get things going. After all, men often didn’t have such high standards. Be good-looking and you were already halfway there. If he actually knew how to cook as well, that was a big bonus. Fu Jia couldn’t imagine how any guy would look at that and think ‘oh, I’d better not’. It just didn’t make any sense.
Si Shi Er also wasn’t quite sure why his master was so worried but still sighed at the end. “He’s been carrying a torch for him for five years. They actually only met this past weekend though so I guess he’s just nervous about it. And he is not really the kind of guy who has many interests. He does a lot of stuff but nothing really sticks around.”
“Oh, so he’s like me.”
Si Shi Er looked at his boyfriend and had to bite his tongue. He loved Fu Jia with all his heart but he wasn’t sure if this was a comparison his boyfriend should make. The most charitable way to react to that was probably ‘yes, but he has money’.
In any case, when it came to his master, there really wasn’t weren’t many undesirable traits if you didn’t look at how he didn’t talk much. Well, although that was probably a big undesirable trait. If it was him, he couldn’t imagine being with somebody who talked so little. Then again, maybe that would be different when it came to young master Xiao.
Come to think of it, it wasn’t like their master couldn’t talk. He just chose not to because, with each word that you uttered, there was a chance of exposing a weakness. But when he was giving them orders outside of the earshot of any outsiders, he was often a little more specific. Probably also because he realized that they wouldn’t get it otherwise.
When it came to other people, he usually didn’t bother though. But that was because he didn’t care about those people. When it came to young master Xiao, Si Shi Er had the feeling that their master would be able to talk a lot of it was necessary. Exposing weaknesses and such things … would that really be important to him when being with the person he loved? No, he didn’t think so.
Si Shi Er smiled to himself and then pulled his boyfriend over to sit close to where his master was, feeling like he didn’t want to stand around the whole time.
Sitting down, he couldn’t help but glance at Si Jin who was staring at the contest with all attention focused on it and he couldn’t help but feel that it really might be difficult to get young master Xiao interested in him.
Their master always seemed like he had this kind of one-track mind. That was difficult for most people to get behind. Young master Xiao might also have difficulties dealing with that. But then, he seemed like the kind of guy who could see something lovable in almost anyone. So maybe even when it came to their master, he would be able to find something he liked.
